Guess this explains why K-Love Bought 'KLU

Per All Access:

Hosts LISA WILLIAMS and ERIC ALLEN of EMF BROADCASTING Christian AC K-LOVE RADIO NETWORK morning show "K-LOVE MORNINGS WITH LISA AND ERIC" are moving from EMF headquarters in ROCKLIN, CA to INDIANAPOLIS. The morning show will broadcast from the K-LOVE studios at WKLU/INDIANAPOLIS.

According to the show's blog on FACEBOOK, the network morning show had to start at 3a (PT) to be heard at 6a (ET). The move to INDIANAPOLIS will allow WILLIAMS and ALLEN to adjust their schedules for more evening time with family. It will also place network personalities in closer proximity to network events around the country.

They bought KLU because it fits in nicely with the half dozen plus other full power stations in Indiana (plus applications pending and translators). It is good to see the studio used instead of shuttered like EMF usually does. (They did pay separately for the license and the studio.)

Plus it gives redundancy...If something crucial fails in Rocklin, the show goes on from Indy. Did the article say when this starts?

Well, good. Mitch can claim a half-dozen new Hoosier jobs after pushing through Daylight Saving Time :D

This is great news. To have a local presence with local personalities & the opportunities for local involvement is what radio's about. The bulk of their programming is still a satellite-feed but this is very good for Indy. Plus, unlike "The Song", K-Love's on-air people are actually allowed to say the name of Jesus, even if it wasn't in the name of the tune they just played. Occasionally they EVEN read the Bible verse of the day! Incredulous! Welcome to Indy, K-Love! Mighty Frenchman, formerly of Love 98!

I like K-Love for lots of reasons including that jocks, specifically JD Chandler, will pray with listeners on the air. I love that.

And if anyone really thinks that EMF bought WKLU or any station to accommodate a jock's living preference, you really are clueless. They don't do that and it would be stupid of them to do so. Come on. BTW, JD Chandler is about to move to NC with his wife. Also K-Love's former morning team did their show from their house.

And that is another reason to like EMF. Not many other groups that would allow their air staff to live where they want & do their show from home. Jon & Sherry had a satellite uplink (not cheap) at their home. Another tidbit...Amy Baughman who does the news updates isn't in California...she's in Dayton. I'm not interested in ever working a 'full time real job' again, but if I were, EMF would be at the very top of my wish list.

The fact that stations and networks use that technology instead of having people's butts in chairs in real time is what 95 percent of R-I is bitching about. Real radio people pack the UHaul every two years :-D

JUST DAYS AGO THEY TALKED ABOUT NON PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS ON CBS NEWS.

So what about the Ceo's that run EMF (K Love)?

They talked about other organizations that make money from people making a living, they said the Ceo's at some non profit organizations made like a 6-8% raise in salary, there salary may been well over 400k dollars a year, while Ceo's at a profit organization had a negative result in salary.

Non profits like EMF and K Love may make lots, get a tax exemption, and what does the Ceo's make at EMF? Maybe it's time to investigate EMF.

I guess the goverment needs to remove Ceo's that make more than there worth at several non profit organizations because there organization has a tax exemption.

The government needs to set a salary cap, if they can get donations and pay people like that then those organizations need to pay income or those people go out the door.

Maybe people need to start up more non profit stations, start cussing on those stations, maybe the FCC will say it's are right for a non com to do it, and again maybe the government may begin to start cracking down on the noncom nonprofit organizatitions BS...

Someone has to know how to run a large organization that has a large budget, and those people cost money. No, the pizza delivery guy can't do it for $20000 a year.

The EMF CEO gets 400k a year? That's chump change for an organization like EMF - they probably spend $20mil-30mil or a year on buying and building additional stations for their network.

Grammar and proofreading. You need it.

Just because a group like EMF is big doesn't mean they're corrupt. As much money as they invest in their network, I seriously doubt anyone there is getting a fat bonus check. Sounds like someone may just have a problem with EMF having "too many stations."

Frankly, the tax exemption for any and all religious organizations needs to be abolished.

More taxes? Schools don't pay taxes and spend more money than any company in Indiana. We are taxes when we receive and taxed when we spend. We are double taxed. We need to lower taxes and isntead of spening more should live within our means.

I'm sure glad that EMF is a broadcasting organization and not a religious organization, aren't you, N_D_Radioguy? Otherwise bigots who want to take away First Amendment rights from people of faith might prevail.

Nice try, Steve, but it won't work.

While I am on the record as disliking the content of religious broadcasting and of the firm opinion that there are far too many of them, no one said anything about abridging any individual's freedom to -- or from -- religion.

My objections are not those of individual faith; they are rooted in the fact that religion -- again, not faith, but relgion -- is about money and power.

Even if an organization is truly doing "God's work" or not, if people are stuffing their pockets while doing it, it is a business.

Dave Ramsey is a great example of how it should work. Ramsey is clearly a good Christian man whose every broadcast is based on -- and frequently mentions -- Godly principles. However, Ramsey is honest about making his living through his broadcasts and books and [from all I know] is paying his taxes accordingly. Though I do not particularly enjoy his work as a matter of my personal taste, I have no objections to who he is and what he does.

It's the Jim Bakkers, Robert Tiltons, Ted Haggards, et al, of the world who get my dander up.

As long as the business that is EMF is properly keeping its records and paying its appropriate share of business taxes -- and, of course, following FCC regulations -- it can choose to do with its licenses as it pleases.

Non Profit organizations in the broadcasting sector across more than 1 stateline, and more than local needs to pay income tax just like a profit organization or be considered a profit organization.

This is just my opinion but it seems some organizations is taking advantage of there rights, so the rules should be changed so it's fair and square.
