Guess what? WZZN is finally on the Air!

As of 12 today, I am hearing Fox Sports Radio in a mono signal on 97.7 FM. I was not able to catch a positive ID, but during the commercial break I heard advertisements for Eva Bank, Spring Valley Beach (Blountsville) and Century Volvo of Huntsville.

Another sports station, blah... ::)

Not surprising, though... ::)

Now they're doing Sporting News Radio, what a waste. Huntsville now has ESPN 730/103.9, Fox 1450/94.something, and now this.

My bad, 1450/92.9 (corrected) is talk according to their website. They must do some FSR on the weekends, since that's the only time I tune in.

Well, my opinion is different but I love the station already. It's about time we have a great Sports radio station here in Huntsville, a lot of people have been waiting on this for years. The only question is, what took someone so long? The Ump is a joke and is mostly ESPN, they have one local show in the afternoons. 97.7 The zone already has Jay Barker and Al Del Greco's show and Jim Dunaway's show out of Birmingham! And I got a crystal clear signal driving from north of Cullman to Huntsville, and it even picks up well in Hampton Cove. A+! The Ump's signal is spotty (AM or FM), at best.

Can't wait to see what 97.7 adds... and when they add local talent from Huntsville!

I bet they fired it up just long enough to keep their license.

Seems kinda strange that they would sell advertising for only a couple of days, just to go beck silent. However, I DID notice that their liners and ID were not very professional, and sounded like something one would hear on an unlicensed station. There is still no info about this station on the web, though.

A friend of mine that works for them said they have been on for equipment tests. They should return to the air sometime in the next week or two for regular programming. I ask if they were really going to be sports programming and couldnt get an answer other than keep listening and see.
