Guesting for Ankarlo

Today, some dude broadcasting from his home in Atlanta.

Because, as Russ said, he wants it live and local. Because KFYI was baaaaad for having a host do a show from LA.

What ever happened to that host from LA?

::)

Depends which version of Russ you want:

Syndicated shows are bad
Syndicated shows are good
Taped shows are bad
Taped shows are good
Joe Crummey is bad
Joe Crummey is good
Pat is a legend
Pat is off the air

If you don't agree with him, just wait, he will change for you.

Didn't think the show could get any worse, but that guy was beyond awful and extremely obnoxious… …taking callers, and 2 seconds in to a caller response, shouting over them, etc.…

Hey, you forgot:

We're not Republicans or Democrats
All our talkers are right of center

Play by play is for Sports Parkinglot 6~twenty
We got the Cards on FM

We're the Valley's heritage news station
We dropped all news in PMD

We're hip 'cause we're on FM
But an AM station kicks our butt

I'm the Master Blogger
I'm not a Programmer

;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Listening to Austin Hill. Of course he sounds better without having to laugh at Tom Liddy's 'jokes.'

Ankarlo for Beck? Joking, right? The midday guy skips his own show to fill in for a syndicated host on his own station???? I must have misread the thread.

You read correctly. The guy has to get a vacation from KTAR sometime, no?

Maybe he reads this board and sees his days days at KTAR are numbered, and he's trying to add to his resume.

Mac Watson did the same thing on Wednesday when Tim & Willy did the PMD. The same thing might happen today (Friday).

Makes sense. Your own local show isn't as important as being on a syndicated show in a different daypart on your own station. Sarcasm aside, I supposed it exposes a talent to audience that may not already be listening to his or hers show.

I didn't hear Mac and only a little of Ankarlo doing Beck's show. Ankarlo mentioned several times that he lived in Arizona and that he's on KTAR. This gives him and the station nationwide publicity. Locally for KTAR, it gives us listeners a chance to hear someone different (Gaydos, Tim & Willy) during the hosts shift.

Does nothing for KT'R ratings, so what's the point?

Gaydos? What a joke! Tim & Willy? The only station that benefits is KNIX.

The Master Blogger has done a brilliant job of jerking listeners around. And the ratings show.

I think what most of you are missing in this whole fiasco is that Beck wants much lesser talents filling in for him while he's away. Talk show hosts have huge egos and the idea of being upstaged by a fill-in host is not something they want, thus you try to find talent that's a couple ticks below mediocre to fill in for you so that 1) the audience loves you more when you return and 2) It ensures further job security--at least in your own mind.

Believe me, if I were on vacation, I'd love Aunt Carlos to fill in for me, I could use it as possible bribery or punishment for the audience; "hey, if you misbehave I'll put Ankarlo back on for two more weeks!"

You may be right in general, but John and Ken have filled in for Beck on a 1-2 day basis, and I wouldn't exactly call them nobodies.

BTW, Hannity used to fill in for Rush. Has Hannity hurt Rush now that he is just about as successful? Has Roger Hedgecock's weekend show hurt Rush? Has Tom Sullivan's new FNR show hurt Rush?

But think of this: John & Ken wish they had the a syndicated show that Glenn Beck does. Hannity filled in for Rush, but got his own deal because he was very talented, but not nearly what Rush was... Obviously what I say is a tad tongue-in-cheek; naturally the most insecure hosts are the ones that merely run best-of instead of having a fill in--or they can't get anyone to do their show, either way.
