Andy was definitely a "jump the shark" moment on Family Ties. Kid was a baby one year, and in kindergarten the next? Come on! Kids grow up fast, but not THAT fast!!

I liked AT10, too, but Casey always seemed stiff on TV. He was born to do radio. I remember seeing him (as an actor) playing a character on Hawaii 5-0 that even predated AT40!

Add to that, McLean Stevenson, Debralee Scott, Richard Deacon, Jack Carter (still can't stand him), Dan Rowan, Skip Stevenson, Avery Schreiber...
You sure Dan Rowan was on Match Game? I know his erstwhile comic partner, Dick Martin, was a frequent MG panelist in the show's final years after Richard Dawson skedaddled. . . .

There were quite a few former Laugh-in people who were on Match Game, especially in the early years, but I don't remember ever seeing Dan Rowan in the reruns on GSN.

...I'm also skeptical about Dan Rowan being on "Match Game 7x," but I do recall he was frequently on "Celebrity Sweepstakes" (probably to try to get the position next to Carol Wayne)...

Casey was my mentor. I'd watch Saturday Morning cartoons & see how many Hanna Barbera cartoons used Casey's character voices. There were a ton. I also remember him on an episode of Quincy M.E (which when I was a kid I thought stood for "Morgue Employee"! :D)

I won't dismiss the possibility that Dan Rowan ever appeared on 'Match Game', but it was Dick Martin who appeared more frequently.
Not unusual for people to mistake one for the other, though.

I know the difference between Dan Rowan & Dick Martin. I lived for Laugh-in! They were both on the Match Game.

American Dreams actually made it three seasons, but it's easy to see why it only seemed like two: NBC bumped it quite a bit for other programming. They should have cast bratty Patty as Roxanne's sister! Roxanne would have bitch-slapped the little brat the first time she caught her reading her diary, or wearing her clothes! Meg was much too "nice" to Patty! ::)

Friday Night Videos: it was MTV for those of us who didn't have cable. The reunion of Paul McCartney and Julian Lennon on that show was a televison moment!

Brady Bunch: How short will Marcia's skirts get this season? Watch the Warren Mullaney episode! Her skirt is super short in that one! ;D

Gong Show: Would be great to see that one again in this age of game shows, talent competitions, and "reality" TV ::), but it would be too politically incorrect to show that one now! ::)

I loved the Jeffersons, only I "moved on up" to the west side! ;D

I don't think I ever got home from school in time to see the "after school specials." ::) Would like to see some of those. Wonder if they are on DVD?

We've now got some interstate overpasses here in Nashville that remind me of the Jetsons! ;D

Foghorn Leghorn: I say, I say, Saturday mornings wouldn't have been the same without him! :D ;D

I'll admit that it may be possible that Dan Rowan may have been on Match Game and I didn't see it. I only got to see it occasionally when I was off from school/college/work when it was first on, and most of my memories are from the reruns on GSN.

I thought Roxanne was hot. Even hotter & alot smarter was J.J's girlfriend Beth. I probably would've accidentally put a bun in the oven too even though it was '65 :D I had forgotten about the 3rd season. Kinda lost entheusiasm for it when NBC seemed to almost purposely mess with it. They'd have 2, sometimes 3 hour marathons of "Law & Boredom" I called it, football, Christmas specials...anything to ruin it & throw me off sometimes for 2 months straight! Patty was quite a brat. For that era the family did seem a little befor etheir time. Patty never woulda gotten smart with her parents & I could easily see Jack whompin' on J.J.
Favorite scene:
the "Down the Shore" episode (possibly where Beth & J.J concieve their child), Henry gets arrested for turning on the fire hydrant & Roxanne goes back to Philly & Meg is left friendless, walking down the shore with the ferris wheel lit up at night in the background & she's crying with Gerry & the Pacemakers "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Cryin" playing in it's entirety. CLASSIC MOMENT!

also Get Smart
also Dark Shadows.
cold case
get smart

Here is a Match Game episode guide:

http://home.comcast.net/~matchgame/episodeguide.html

I could find no mention of Dan Rowan but there were plenty of appearances by Dick Martin and Jo Anne Worley, and a few by Arte Johnson.

As game show emcees go, Gene Rayburn did a fantastic job of keeping those drunk-ass panelists in line. He was really good at what he did.

A lot of those people were in their fifties and sixties when they did MG 30 - 35 years ago. For example, Jack Klugman will be 86 in a few days and Jack Carter is 84. The years have a way of sneaking up on you.

Ok, you win! I shot off my mouth and I now need it back to eat crow. I could have sworn Dan Rowan was on Match Game but checked the list of all the people that were ever on it for every year and could not find him. But dammit, I could have sworn I saw him on there! I must be getting Alzheimers...........

"Police Squad" [in color] was hilarious. The "special guest star" would be dead before the opening credits.
That and "Airplane" gave Leslie Nielsen a whole new career in comedy.

I also confess to watching "The Partridge Family," but only because of a mad crash on Susan Dey.
What '70s teenage guy didn't?

And then it continued with LA Law ;D

Remember the bull semen storyline?? :D :D :D

Talk about "crushes" I was 13 years old back in 1967 around this time when independant station WKTR-TV in Kettering, Ohio (later WPTD..Dayton's PBS station) first signed on. I remember a sweet girl about my age named Kim Christy hosting "Kim's Kartoon Kapers" being just a tad shy yet charming, cheerful, adorable and being herself all at the same time.

She announed the titles of all the Three Stooges classics and my early teenybopper favorite campy cartoon...Batfink!

"KARATE....THE BATTILLAC!"

"BULLETS CANNOT HARM ME...MY WINGS ARE LIKE A SHEILD OF STEEL!"

That along with youthful viewers sending artwork and other fan mail. I wanted to send her some fan mail too but I was by no means an artist...I was terrified of talking to (let along writing letters to) girls at that time....she was a girl scout on the verge of blossoming. I was a nerdy young teen dude back then and all the girls I knew in school wanted nothing to do with me...so Kim Christy being her natural cheerful, sweet self on Channel 16 was a consolation for me back then.

I ask myself forty years later if that was (by any chance the future) Dayton radio legend Kim Faris?

Perhaps I'll never know.

As for Susan Dey as Laurie Partridge...all I can say is: "hey....we grew together"
I was a hopeless 'ol romantic for the girl next door back then.

I hope I'm not the only sicko that had a crush on a cartoon as a kid...Daphne from Scooby Doo! I was also a big Marcia Brady fan except for the additude sometimes.

Family Affair(Sissy was kinda hot)
Welcome back Kotter
chico & the man

That was actually hosted by Christopher Glenn, who was one of the lead news anchors on CBS Radio for many years until he passed away last year.

Christopher Glenn was great. One of the greatest sets of pipes I ever heard on anybody. Great journalist. It was Glenn I heard when CBS radio news broke into regular programming on KNX in L.A. with the first bulletin on the Challenger disaster.

Back to our regularly scheduled topic. Speaking of CBS, does anyone else remember Captain Kangaroo in the 70s, when they added Debbie, a very hot heartstopping blonde to the show? I guess they wanted someone girls could relate to after years of all-male characters (puppets included, i.e. - Mr. Moose, Bunny Rabbit, etc.). Now SHE was a guilty pleasure! Anyone remember her last name, or where she is now?

" "Police Squad" [in color] was hilarious. The "special guest star" would be dead before the opening credits."

I've always loved the opening of Police Squad, and always assumed it was based entirely on the Quinn Martin shows. They used that same QM announcer, and announced "tonight's episode..." like the QM shows, among other things.

But I stumbled onto the old "M Squad" opening on You Tube. It's obvious that the Police Squad producers were doing a send up of that old 50s Lee Marvin show as well, including the theme, which is almost an exact copy. Pretty obscure reference when you consider that nobody had seen M Squad since the 60s era reruns.
