So, WXYK drops AGAIN... When is someone going to wake up and realize that what The Monkey is doing is NOT WORKING? Seriously.... WABB pulls just short of a 2 share, 12+, in Biloxi - Gulfport? B97 / New Orleans tops a 1 share in the market? You mean to tell me that additional share couldn't have gone to The Monkey? Wait, of course not... Jay Taylor has the jocks whored out to the sales staff! When was the last time you actually heard compelling content on the air? Answer: You don't, because they have the jocks tied down to liner reads 4x/hour!

Gimme a break. Biloxi - Gulfport deserves a better CHR than that.
______________

I agree. I used to really like The Monkey but every time I talk to people, they tell me how bad it's sounding these days. It's a shame... it had a ton of potential. I think when out of market CHRs bring in decent shares, that's a sign that it's time to re-evaluate things.

What would I do? Go more mainstream and stop with the rhythmic lean. I know rhythmic is the new hottness but damn... I'm looking at their playlist on Mediabase right now and it's wayyyyyy off of what a Pop station should be. TOO much rhythmic product... way too much.

Just my $0.02.

I'm surprised BigTymer hasn't come on here and commented yet. He likes to slam Jay Taylor at every opportunity he gets. That may actually be a good thing.
______________

I knew someone would say my name. I'm surprised Aaron didn't say it first though, since he seems to agree with me.

I hear the mood has somewhat improved over in Tallahassee since Opus took over and Jaydolf was gone. I can only wish that for the Triad employees in Gulfport.

I have no doubts that the people below Jaydolf can do a great job without him breathing down their necks. I mean, all of the Monkey's staff have been there since before Jaydolf even showed up, and the programming-ratings-revenue reflected the fact that they can do good radio!
______________
