Gunsmoke Is Back On TV Land

And I love it.

Although this version may be heavy on the commercials, glad it's back.

Our protests may have paid off after all.

Now if GSN would drop the reality mess and do some real game shows, that would be awesome too.

R.D.P. <><

P.S. I know it has been on since Monday but I just discovered it today, while looking for something to watch.  Told my mother and she was happy too.

I kind of figured that TV Land would bring back Gunsmoke and that Murder, She Wrote wasn't going too well for them and now letting the show stay at 8:00 AM Eastern/7:00 AM Central and for only one showing at that.

Now if only TV Land would start their programming on the hour instead of programs starting and ending at weird hours especially in the mornings (example: 7:00 AM to 8:10 AM for MSW and 8:10 to 8:45 for Leave It To Beaver, etc.), a couple of days ago they started Gunsmoke at 11:45 AM and extending it to 1:00 PM. And for what? More commercials for elderly care, health insurance, Pat Boone selling bathtubs? Just curious of what the big deal is on that.

Simple... GREED!

What I miss the most on TV Land, The Jeffersons and Good Times (both shows still airs on rival TV One), and of course Sanford & Son I miss the most on TV Land. When TV Land lost the rights to Sanford & Son from October 2000-January 2003 it reminds me of GSN's Dark Period of 1997-98 (which I didn't get to watch GSN until I went to satellite in 2004 with Dish Network and currently DirecTV since the day after Obama tooked office) when GSN lost the rights to G-T Library (except 1994 Feud and TRIR which the latter was dropped in 2000). I call this TV Land's Dark Period 1 By the time TV Land regained the rights to S&S, they cut out the good parts including Fred, or Aunt Esther, and or Grady saying the "N" word which became commonly controversial recently, it wasn't the same. Then TV Land lost the rights to Sanford & Son again (this time along with rival TV One) in 2012-present, I call this TV Land's Dark Period 2.

Unforunately I don't get AntennaTV subchannel over-the-air in my market since it's owned by Tribune, and it airs S&S reruns. Luckly I've got all 135 episodes of S&S on DVD.

So do I understand this correctly? TV Land is adding 15 minutes of commercials to a one hour show?? That's stunning - and must represent about a 100% increase in commercial content. Anybody who sits through that without the intervention of a DVR and fast-forward is a masochist.

Yes - I guess it's better than editing out that much content, but still...

Whew! I thought the endless marathon of Gunsmoke on TV Land was gone forever. Thank goodness our days will be filled with this again as apparently there is nothing else in the world of classic television to show.

Any idea why shows like It Takes A Thief, Mod Squad, NYPD, (with Frank Converse), HE&She, and others like those never are shown on ME or TVland, or others. Just wondering

Why is it still called TVland? I hardly even watch them any more.
