GVG/Saturn MCS 4000 master control TV question

Hello,

I do have here two questions regarding a Grass Valley GVG/Saturn MCS 4000 master control TV system, I would appreciate if there is an engineer on this board that might be able to give more information, or maybe an engineer that has done a installation in the past with a GVG/Saturn MCS 4000 master control TV system.

First: we would like to interface a exsisting 3rd party automation system to the master control system, so the automation would select the master control inputs and switch them according to the information provided on the playlist of the automation system, we would like to know what would be the technical procedure to have a 3rd party automation system to interface with the GVG/Saturn MCS 4000.

Second: Is it possible to have an CAT 5E cable that normally sends the data (or pulse) from the automation system to the master control main frame the HDVP 4000 on the Autolog port, to be interfaced with an commercial CAT 5E switch-box, that if you would like to run the master-control board manually (for breaking news or live programming) you could switch off the data going to the Autolog port and afterwards during automation hours (unattended hours) you can swtich on back the data going to the Autolog port, so that the master control switcher would be controlled by the automation system.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Richinald

Your automation vendor should already have interfacing figured out. The automation software should also already have a way to drop into manual mode. Talk to them.

The last time I helped with installing automation to a full-blown TV master control switcher, the automation vendor had everything documented including RS232 and RS422 machine control plug wiring.
