"Hacksaw" Hamilton

Being from San Diego & Los Angeles, I've been familiar with "Hacksaw" for years and years. He seemed like one of the main anchors at XTRA and I know he's seeing his role diminish.

So, now being in Seattle, I was surprised to hear Hacksaw as the Christmas week fill in for Ben Maller and James Washington. This doesn't seem like the sort of gig that an established guy in the nation's second largest market would take (not that I'm an expert on these things). I'd think he'd be the one taking the week off and having someone fill in for him.

All that said, is he on the outs and looking for a new gig?

I caught the show last night, and I was impressed. Being an east coaster, I hadn't heard Hacksaw before.
 
I also used to live in SoCal and was a regular listener to Hacksaw's show. I wish I would've caught his show the other night since I did go to bed a little early. I think Hacksaw could have a national following if he were to be heard nationwide. He did do an NFL draft special on Fox Sports Radio a couple of years ago.

I just read the San Diego board and I was not aware that Hacksaw's schedule has been jerked around. Some time ago on the San Diego board, there was small talk about Hacksaw perhaps wanting out of Clear Channel and going over to the Mighty 1090 in San Diego. This was before XTRA Sports was relegated to 570 in Los Angeles. I wonder now that since XTRA is an L.A.-only area station, and that he no longer has his afternoon drive-time show full-time, if that would be the impetus for a jump to 1090.

Although I'm not local to LA to hear his show daily, considering that he was pretty much the SoCal anchor of sports radio for many years, I can't see him being happy in his new diminished role at 570. I'm just wondering if this is part of a first step out. He does have a unique style, but I think he'd do well on a national level ... I'd much rather listen to him than many of the other national folks (of course, I'm biased since pretty much Hacksaw and Jim Rome, in his local San Diego days, introduced me to sports radio).

I think Hacksaw would do well on a national level. I'm not sure if you were aware of this, but Hacksaw has been known to make comments that some would deem offensive towards minorities. In fact, he was fired as the Minnesota Vikings' play-by-play guy after they found out about comments he made on his radio show some time earlier.

Saw is great. XTRA-570 is going nowhere with their
sports-hyrid. Saw was set up by some bitter people.
