Mabye you would, but if I had $25 million, I would not buy it.

Mabye = Maybe

Unless you are a stockholder -- opps it's all private now -- then speculation of selling a station is about worth the keyboard your are typing on. Not much. Thanks for playing!

Opps = Oops

I did not speculate, I suggested a good use for the station, since that is what everyone else was doing.
What other use is there besides leased-time or a sale? Everything else has been tried.

How about this: Donate it to the students at UCSD. KSDT has long sought to get a real frequency, but this is the only way that could ever happen.

You're writing to the wrong crowd. You'd have better luck driving from Lubbock to San Antonio and making your case. CCU is private and frankly don't give a rats bats about it.

Um,
Again, just making a suggestion. I really don't give a "rat's bats" about what they do with 1360, just taking part in the conversation.

Chris Russo announced during an interview on the Howard Stern show on Wed. 9/10/08 that Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton will be on the "Mad Dog Radio" channel #123 on Sirius Satellite Radio. He'll be based in L.A. and do a live talk show late in the evening (Eastern Time)/mid evening Pacific Time.

I was wondering what happened to Hacksaw. He would do a daily segment on KLAC during the Loose Cannons, in the 12pm hour. However, no mention of Hacksaw at all...not even an explanation on why he's not on that day. I wonder what happens now...does he stay in-market and go to 800 or 1090, or does he go to another market?

Hi, once-a-year visitor to San Diego from New York who's enjoyed Hacksaw's shows since I started visiting California over 20 years ago. There's one possibility for Hacksaw's future (pure speculation on my part): Christopher "Mad Dog" Russo (late of Sportsradio 66 WFAN New York's "Mike & The Mad Dog" show) is starting his own 24 hour "live" sports talk channel on Sirius & XM Satellite radio (on both services simultaneously-the first such show). Chris has said he's looking for a host to hold down the late evening/early morning Eastern Time/early to late evening Pacific Time slot, preferably from the L.A. area so as to be able to talk about West Coast sports events as they are unfolding. I don't know if Lee's interested in such a position. (Lee was always a guest on the "Mike & the Mad Dog" Super Bowl week shows when the game was played in San Diego.) Just trying to connect the dots...

Wow. Dint think of the XM/Sirius Sportschannel until you mentioned it. If thats what Russo is looking to do...yea hacksaw would fit the requirements perfectly. I think the 3rd shifters in NY would really dig his style, and back on in California too.

Good call!

Good for Hacksaw. I thought he would go the way of Mike North & Hank Goldberg. I guess he still has a shelf life & he's mart enough to leave a sinking ship over at 1360 & CC. He should thank his lucky stars Sirius wanted a west coast guy. He certainly has been a mainstay for a long time. Sattelite may still save some of our favorite talkers.

I guess this means that Clear Channel is searching for a new format for 1360.

Maybe they should try something like Air America. It's worked in other markets .... ;)

There's always adult standards too. ;D

Uh hum.. Mr. Cahrmichael, you advocate for air america because spike will give you "insider" information on the goings on in that dark world. Air amerika does work in some markets (Portland, somewhere else), but you still forget to tell people that AA KLSD relied on subsidies (welfare) from it's brothers and sisters in the San Diego market for the past 3 years before the plug was pulled. Xtra sports 1360 has zero listeners. But it is not on the welfare that occured on AA KLSD with craig, spike, and sailor "castro". Xtra 1360 has healthy ad revenue albeit a low rate card. I think in the near future, it will handle more live games like the Chargers, etc as contracts expire. Think KLAC as an example

BTW, your old "home style" web site from 10 years ago with the message board was so much better than the
"template" garbage you have today.. templates are for trainees

Stacy has never given me insider information.

The website is eight years old, so your info is flawed.
Just like radio you don't have to tune in to visit. With 3.5 million visitors per year, one less won't make a difference.

I hope Hacksaw does show up on CH 123 with Russo because it would be good to hear him and it is weird hearing a channel with just The Maddog.

So, is the satellite deal still in the hopper, or deader-than-a-doornail?

I used to listen to Hacksaw in my teenage years, believe it or not, early in his career in his stint as the evening host at talk WHLO/640 Akron. This was the original Susquehanna-owned talk station in the mid-to-late 1970's...not today's Clear Channel-owned talk station.

(Same frequency and calls, but the formats are not at all connected...WHLO ended up doing MOR music and religion, and was owned by Mortenson and Salem, before CC restarted it as a talker just a few years ago.)
