Here is the muckraking that "hadenough" has started:
Granato is calling other stations asking for a new home by the new year. He is using the words "reaching out" when he calls Pat Fant, Eddie Martini, and, yes, believe it or not, Laura Morris, but the word from inside one of those buildings is that he is frustrated and sees the end is near. Zerlein continues to meet with the other boys in town, and there are contradictions as to whether he has officially accepted Clear Channel's offer or if they can't talk yet.
The writing is on the wall. The days of the independent station are sadly past.
I like John, a great deal, and I feel bad that he can't make a go of it with The Game. Their afternoon lineup is terrible. Pendergast was a great caller, but a talk show host he is not. I almost wish they'd have the other host and let Sean call in. Maybe it would liven things up.
Ken Hoffman is an embarrassment, and the poor guy knows it. It's as if he can tell he is terrible but he soldiers on.
Word is that Pat Fant is feverishly working to land Granato to keep him away from KBME. Money talks, Pat. Cut Jerome Solomon and Jesus Ortiz and get real talent. Good luck.

2 TOP 20 MARKETS / Houston-Galveston / Smooth Jazz out, but who's in????? on: September 11, 2007, 10:47:27 pm
VERY possibly not true, but I've heard from 2 sources -- one at CBS and one from the agency world -- that Smooth Jazz will flip at the end of October. Supposedly, and again I am not certain but I'm passing it on, they were going to do JACK (or a close approximation) but then Cumulus beat them to it. I hear that what few living creatures existed to service that station have been slated for termination, and the company is now foraging for a different format.
Funky Larry Jones said that place was a morgue when he left for KROI. Good riddens, Uncle Funky, you've done great at Praise 92.1!!!!!

3 TOP 20 MARKETS / Houston-Galveston / Clear Channel river of blood on: September 07, 2007, 04:35:41 pm
My sources at clearchannel tell me their was a nasty bloodbath this week. Does anybody know anything? They couldn't talk but will tell me later. I wanna know now. Do tell if you know, or ask around if you have your own sources and be gracious enough to share it here.
And this from Dick Nixon. I checked this one out by sending Lance an email and he laughed about it. The dumb "Kenny Hand" inside information should have been the easiest tip-off. $240,000? How outlandish is that? Why do we even discuss these ridiculous made up "rumors"? Somebody is having fun.

LANCE ZERLEIN IS IN AT ESPN 790 - getting paid 240K+ he'll apparently be teamed with Kenny Hand - he posted on his blog at chron.com but his lawyer told him to take it down.
