Hahaha KAGM the Lee Logan show!

I predicted it as soon as Chris and Bean were fired and viola today I was scanning the dial and the Lee Logan show pops up. Nothing worse than a talk station PD thinking he has talent forcing those with talent out and putting himself in their place.

Actually, I think Pat Frisch, the PD of 770, has done an excellent job as morning host over there. He is certainly a !lot! better than Jim Villanucci. And a !lot! !lot! !lot! better than Larry Ahrens. So mabye if we give Lee Logan some time, he will develop into a competitive host. I would love to have a listenable talk station in the afternoons!

Sounds a lot like the OM/PD I worked for a few years ago. He came into the cluster as OM and forced the PD of our talk station into an off-air position. He, then, took the PD reigns from her and demoted her to a news director before firing her a few months later. Of course, he began hosting her afternoon program after taking her PD job. Predictably, his show tanked, and he found himself over extended because he was firing good people when he was unable to pick up the slack himself. However, he threw his weight around and starting taking people's jobs at the AC in the cluster, too, before finally being fired himself. (Yes, I was one of his victims during his 18 month reign of terror.) Those people are the absolute worst kind of people to work for in radio! Let's hope this isn't what Logan's doing.

Please Frisch is horrible as is Villanuchi as is Clark. KKOB is an institution and Ahrens and Frish prove that you can plug anything into those time slots and people will listen.

Hate them or love them (Nucci or Pat), the 50Kw blowtorch seems to have the winning combinations and the trends show it. The morning demo seems to have listeners (and callers) from both sides of the fence...Pat gets as many callers who disagree with his very conservative right wing viewpoint as those who agree. And they keep coming back. Good programming IMOHO.

Perhaps you missed my point. When Larry Ahrens was at KKOB people listened, when Jackson was there people listened. Now Frisch and Vilenucci are there and people listen. They could replace those two guys tomorrow and plug Jackson and Ahrens back in or the man in the moon and they would draw a number. Do you really think Larry started sucking when he left AM radio? Talk show listeners are creatures of habit and their habit is KKOB.

I think that is what made KAGM attractive when the idea 1st hit as many felt that they were going to do different radio. They didn't they tried to become KKOB JR. Had they went in a different direction and been an FM TALK STATION. Things may have been a different story. Oh well, I guess we will never know will we...

I don't believe I missed your point, probably I failed to make mine. The value in talk radio is the entertainment, not necessarily the talent. KAGM thought (apparently) that the "big" names would create the reason to "make the switch". After three books AGM is wondering why no-one knows where they are. Sorry Lee, but I don't want to feel like I'm in an elevator or a supermarket while I listen to the morning drive. Just because Larry and Dianne are on first name basis with everyone from the janitor at West Mesa High to the governor of NM doesn't make them entertaining. I didn't make the switch.

I'd agree that Frisch has done an excellent job as morning host.
I think Logan is sounding great so far,(only been one afternoon) just my 2 cents as a talk radio listener. Their comp is a machine that's for sure, but I like having more than one station in order to get my talk radio fix.
When your building a "talker" it's not just the "on-air talent" that gets it built. It takes time to get all the facets in place and running. Everyone's an expert here (well, you might be,, hard to tell since most are anonymous), so you already know this.
I hope they stick with it, but then again, I listen to talk radio!
I'll check back with all you anonymous (you know who you are) trash talkers soon, later. lol

What do you think FM TALK should be? Are you saying that KAGM should have gone HOT TALK?

They should'nt have marketed it as a fresh and new radio network and then go and hire Larry Ahrens, Chris Jackson, and Phil "The Bean"... Those guys are old. Anderson and those sports guys were great as they were fresh and new. They could have tried for Savage, Leykis, Don and Mike, and Glen Beck to fill the afternoon.
