Hale bringing the Ticket back to Pensacola?

Last week Ron Hale apparently purchased W246BN-FM 97.1 in Bay Minette, AL. Unless he plans on flipping it like all his other past stations, I assume he plans to move this translator to his Milton, FL "the Ticket" simulcast, WTKE-AM 1490, thus putting sports back on the FM dial in (north) Pensacola. I really don't know what he can do.. how close the translator has to be to the originating AM station.. how he could get any antenna height that close to Whiting Field... but it looks like he's going to try.

Probably no chance he'll get this on the air before Football season.

Hopefully this won't end up being as big of a clusterfcuk as his 94.5 translator became.

That's all I got. Anyone got anything to say about this? Any other ideas of what he might be up to buying a translator in Alabama?

Scratch the first post. I think I made a mistake. I do that a lot at 3AM. I forgot Hale still owned 1470 AM in Evergreen, AL (the former sister station of Coast 93.3). Based on the direction the 97.1 translator has been moving from Bay Minette it would make more sense that Evergreen is his destination rather than Milton.
It does seem like 97.1 would be worth more money in Milton or Pensacola than it will be in Evergreen.

Hale did a dumb ass move when he moved to 100.3 and I doubt the Pensacola audience will listen to AM especially during storm season!

If he has common cense, he'd fire up a 50K or a medium transmitter that will cover both FWB and Pensacola and put the ticket on there.

I miss KROCK, really enjoyed their music.

Hale had no choice. No FM radio stations in this area are for sale for a reasonable price. No allocations are available for new stations. People in radio are not making money this year.

and "MY 107.3" HD-2 isn't really helping matters, neither.

Hows that? I can't figure out how 107.3 and The Ticket are connected. I don't think 107.3 has an HD-2 anymore.

on another note, does anyone know what stations will be carrying Florida, FSU, Auburn, and Bama football in the Panhandle this year? It'd be really cool to get all four teams on 100kw FMs instead of trying to pull in the rimshot Class A's or AM stations that have been carrying the games in recent years.
WOWW 107 was the Auburn affiliate back in the Pat Dye/Bo Jackson days... that's what made the conjure up this new question.

Yea, it's still on HD-2. I hear it every now and then. Weak signal.

Yeah, I caught 107.3 HD2 in west Pensacola today. It sounds like a simulcast of the ESPN News TV channel... is that possible? Is that what ESPN radio affiliates carry... like the old CNN Headline News affiliates? I don't think I get ESPN News TV to compare.

I also caught 101.5 HD2 today. It was cool, playing nothing but static... I didn't know there was such a thing as static in HD radio.

And someone needs to pay attention to Foggy Mountain on 94.9 HD2. They keep playing the voice tracked DJs on top of each other... sometimes even announcing the wrong songs. Kinda sounds like something WAAZ would do (sometimes they don't cut the music when they go to CBS news)

The mention of WOWW carrying Auburn football some years ago... wasn't that because WOWW was owned by some guy (can't remember name) dba Colonial Bcstg ... ... and he was one of the really big shots in Auburn alumni circles ... so Auburn on WOWW was logical. IIRC he was also a big wig in Colonial Bank.

Sorry to be late on commenting. Poledo - this is the best post in a while. After reading this, all the reason more for Hale to 'buy another sem-station.

Maybe he will get a freakin CLUE.. what a dumb ass move to remove the ticket from a 100KW stick.. I'd love to see KROCK return on 100.3 WILL HE DEW IT???
