Handheld TV's. Are they all the same?

I have an old HH 2" color TV that is finally on the way out.
Have any technological advances made in this area or is the market limited to only a few Forest Gump type geeks like me who like to take a walk in the evening and watch the nightly news?
The one I had (Optimus) had poor-fair reception on VHF 2-6, great reception on 7-13 and UHF, particularly outdoors at night.
Any particular models that stand out but are they all about the same?
Thanks, vibe

I don't know anything about HH TVs, but I wonder if you have thought about the fact that any analog tv you buy will be useless in less than two years unless they are connected to a converter box or cable. Of course, that would not be practical for a Hand Held. You might want to check to see if any HHs are available with a digital tuner...

I wonder if video iPods have a tuner option? I have a HH - but it has "scan" tuning. Not very useful if you are in an interference prone area and it locks on every source of noise. My father had a nice one - analog tuning and it was darn sensitive, too. But I haven't found it in his effects.

I don't think the digital transition will take place when scheduled. Too many people in the far boondocks rely on analog TV and there are lots of unrolved "kinks" with digital. If i can get a HH for $80-100 and have it last 4 years fine.
Reg bruce C- The previous HH with manual tuning, believe it was a Sony B and W. Great tuner, better on the VHF low stations than the present one.
Another option is to buy one of those 5" B and W's that go on sale every so often for about $19 but what can U get for that price??

I have one of those little b/w sets that I bought at a dollar store for $15 and believe it or not I can pick up stations with the built in antenna that normally require an outdoor antenna for my other televisions. I can't figure out why they can't put a decent tuner on a color TV like they do on a cheapo.

In Fla I don't have cable and can pick up 2 clear and 4 other watchable stations on the living room TV w/ a Goodwill $4.00 indoor antenna but the 2" HH gets 3 of the other 4 watchable stations in clearly as well as 3 other watchable stations that the indoor antenna cannot get a sniff of. Plus the HH is great for watch distant stuff when tropo/conditions are right.
But that's probably because the HH TV is being used outside the house.
But is there any that is clearly better than others?

I have always been fond of the little TV tuner cartridge gizmo for my Sega Game Gear.........been using it for almost 10 years now and it hasn't failed on me yet. Although, there always is the impending doom associated with mid-February 2009........

It's an analogue tuner so I don't know what I would do when DVB takes over the airwaves!!

(Just FYI--An AC adaptor or a cigrette-lighter plugin is an ABSOLUTE MUST-HAVE if you are going to use the TV or play any kind of game programmes whatsoever on the Game Gear. The thing drains AA's *very quickly*!)
