Hanford LPFM's

Sounds like that KOAD-LP - 92.5 and KOOH-LP 104.5 are both being programmed by the same person. Has anyone heard the same well known voice on both stations ?

Most likely a small Drone Copter. LOL
Just heard a traffic report -- about a back up at
the In-N-Out burgers. LOL Yesrterday - two cars met at 12th and Lacey at the same time.

Waiting to hear Verne doing the traffic reports from the Air unit broadcasting to all of those millions of people listening to KOAD and KOOH.

Those stations are actually on the air? I make deliveries all over including Selma, Fowler and Kingsburg and never heard nothing but 104.5 from Atascadero, and 92.5 Paso Robles and Mercedm must only serve a few blocks like 104.3 KJOI, which is bad even at Shaw And 99, but KJOI has the TuneIn app for the phone and devices.

Do they have a stream? what are the formats? Can they be heard outside Hanford, like Lemoore?
I haven't been south of Selma in a while so I only here the SLO Co. stations.

I don't understand what the point of creating that station is and WHOM it is supposed to serve?? 104.3 KJOI.

I don't get it.......Both not understanding AND receiving the signal from west central Fresno.

I think the idea is for TuneIn.com so it can be used through your phone and bluetoothed to your car stereo, They had to have some kind of ota signal to do that even though it only serves a dozen people in Biola.

Both Low Power Stations -- are indeed "On the air" with oldies rock N roll -- but both stations seem to be programmed by Vern White. Busy man.

The stations sound good -- but the "Commercial spots' are sometimes full out and out
Commercial Spots. Someone should know that the FCC is listening to both stations
- over the internet as well as KYAF. It doesn't help in the fight to get both KYAF and KAAX.

Too bad - AM 1430 plays alot better oldies and the signal goes alot farther. The songs that KOAD and KOOH are playing seem to be "all over the road" Oldies. They should stay with the 60's and 70's rock.

KOOH and KOAD make it north to Excelsior, east nearly to Visalia. KOAD sounds good in most of Lemoore, haven't tried KOOH in Lemoore yet. I could hear KOAD out to the Navy base one day.

KOOH is owned by the Unitarian Church Of Hanford in which they have hired a programmer and sounds great!! As to Commercials they have underwriters to help pay for the station operations and all Underwriting follows the FCC's guidelines for underwriting!!!

Wow looks like you haven't really listened to KOAD or KOOH , While it appears KOAD is doing Classic Rock and Roll KOOH which calls itself KOOL plays 50's & 60's and religious programming. Both stations seem to have their own Iphone & Droid apps and on line presents right on their website!!
I am very impressed by the community involvement in Hanford and Lemoore. Its great to have have these stations in our community!!

We need to be care about accusing stations of running outright commercials versus underwriting. It is perfectly fine to run full fledged commercial on the internet stream and several LPFMs do so. The FCC does not regulate programming on anything but the radio airwaves. I am not saying you, MisterGort are not in radio and do not have an understanding of how things must be phased in Underwriting but the average radio listener thinks they are all commercials or does not get that the stream is not always the over the air product 100% of the time in some cases.

As for KYAF and KAAX, it is illegal by FCC rules for full power and LPFM stations to be owned in common. In fact the rule is one LPFM per customer, period. Understand, however, the KYAF and KAAX owner can be hired to program the LPFM stations and likewise, a LPFM operator can be an employee of a full power station. As long as the person is not the decision making licensee of both (ie: a full power and a LPFM or two LPFM stations), it is fine to mingle. And the FCC would never hold the actions of another station against a licensee even if they have some form of involvement with the erring station. The only thing the FCC makes you responsible for is the station you hold the license for. If that licensee is somehow connected by contract, employment or any other way to a rule breaking station, it is not a factor in judging the station. In other words if KOAD and KOOH broke every FCC Rule in the book, it would not blemish KYAF and KAAX because KYAF and KAAX did not break the rules.

In fact, concerning commercials and underwriting, my auto mechanic is not too happy with a station here because when they called to buy some commercials, they were told the station didn't air commercials and just as soon as they hang up the phone, the station airs a traffic report sponsored by Christian Brothers Automotive. They asked me, knowing I am in radio, why their money want no good but Christian Brothers' was.

Oh, that helps A LOT!!
