Hank Brown will never die or go away.

from the Utica O. D
http://www.uticaod.com/news/x1980201991/The-Hank-Brown-Radio-Show-set-to-return-Jan-2

It's just a C. P. No license in sight.

I have been looking on the net and from what I can tell the towers are not even up yet. And built in a granite pit? It's AM!
What are they going to use for a ground system?

I think Hank has finally flipped. He should have taken the job in Philly. All I got to say to the management of WKAJ, get your money upfront EVERY month!

Do you REALLY think Hank was offered a job in Philadelphia? Maybe working the microphone at Wendy's.

We all know Hank's mileage may vary. Well, WILL vary. For example, in an interview with the Mercury newspaper in 2010, Hank said he had 2 million listeners, stretching all the way to Canada. Back when Mike Schmidt was inducted into the Hall of Fame, Hank told me that he was going to call the Hall of Fame game for a few innings on ESPN. Turned out the game that year was on WGN because the Cubs played in the game.

Hank's a sweet guy, but......

NO!

Hank lies about lying.

You guys are harsh. Hank's not lying. He's promoting.

1/3/12 & no reports that Hank is on the air. The O. D. quotes him as that someone poured jam into his transmitter. Better call in the FBI to investigate.

Re: Hank Brown will never die or go away./a new AM?

So here we are approaching February still no Hank Brown on the air. Transmitter still jammed? I think the sub topic here is why would anyone put a new AM on the air in the Mohawk Valley, anyway?

There is new information on WKAJ. Go to Cnyradio.com and view the comments under the WKAJ Construction Permit heading. It seems the Tx site is not in St. Johnsville, but rather a few miles south of the Little Falls Thruway interchange.

It's official now this from CNYRadio.com: http://www.cnyradio.com/2012/02/23/fcc-denies-wkajs-appeal-to-reinstate-permit/

Apparently they just did not keep the F. C. C. up to date on their activities. If they had, I think the Commission would have been more understanding. Remember they did have those awful floods in the area last year.

So once again Hank is out. Maybe he should try Leatherstocking for their AM's- WFBL WMCR WUTI. He'd cover Syracuse to Little Falls. But, once again, they would need to get their $$ upfront. It's not gonna happen.

It appears the WKAJ calls are going to 1450 in Rome. Wonder if Hank will show up there? He was on the 1550/1230/1350/1480 network when I was doing work for CC a few years ago.

According to CNYradio.com The call letters for 1450 will be WKAL. The stations's original calls.

The 1120 KC in Little Falls situation is still murky. According to the Albany board the request for the extension of the construction permit was rejected by the FCC and the whole thing is dead. However, other sources state there is a glimmer of hope of a reversal by the Commission. Apparently, some work has been done on the site. A phasing house has been built and at least one tower is up. I am surprised the the Commission hasn't been a little bit more lenient considering all the damage the hurricane did last summer. Next time I'm in the Mohawk Valley, I'm going to make an effort to visit the site and see how much progress has been made. I'm curious.

The 4 tower array is erected. One can see it by looking North while traveling on the NY State Thruway at mile marker 204.
