Hank-FM to be no more?

Well, for those in north central Arkansas who liked the Classic Country format of KHAN, 105.7 FM, aka Hank-FM, if what I read on www.fcc.gov is correct, it looks like bad news. It appears that Crain Media is in the process of purchasing KHAN from Scott Gray, who had only purchased the station last December. It appears as if Crain is "moving" the city of license of 105.7 from Kensett to Magness(Independence County) and is also in the process of "moving" the city of license of KEAZ, 100.7FM from Heber Springs to Kensett. Once the "move" is completed, Z-100.7 will still have a 50,000 watt signal, but will be able to heard farther south and east than its soon to be previous location. Also, the new transmitter of KHAN will be 10,500 watts compared to its soon to be former 15,000 watt transmitter. More than likely, once the move is complete, the format will be changed for KHAN and maybe even the call letters. Please note that this foray into Independence County should make the folks at WRD Entertainment in Batesville stand up and take notice, since for the most part, their stations have been the only ones in Independence County. It is not surprising that Hank FM did not make it a year..........very few, if any, local commercials and only one live DJ and that was an afternoon DJ.

Here is an update on the now former Hank-FM. Per Wikipedia and the FCC, Crain Media on February 4 changed the call letters from KHAN to KBGB and is now playing an Adult Contemporary format.
