Hannity Car give away? ..GM sales now down 21%

Japanese cars up 4-12% for last quarter....Is talk radio really good at selling anything?

Apparently no medium is good at selling an inferior product.

The Hannity promotion was in Fall 2006 - so 2007 sales numbers hardly apply.

I do know it wasn't great radio, as it allowed a client to
take over the content of the show. .

Every intro/outro/rejoin was all about GM, when it should have
been about Hannity and the big story - the election.

Rush did a live GM commercial today. The "rush" at the dealership was from liberals trying to trade in their union-made GM vehicles ASAP.

a 2006 ad is targeted at 2007 sales..like most big ticket items...conservative talk radio listeners don't have alot of money..

Looking at this and at least one other thread here, one gets the impression that "callofthewild" has a personal problem with Sean Hannity. I suggest you find some nice soothing music to listen to. Clearly, talk radio, and specifically Hannity's show, gets you a little too on-edge, buddy... :-\

I like the comic relief of hannity..he is as phoney as pro wrestling..why don't you buy the ID Theft program he advertises??? since you are a big fan...

Since I'm a "big fan"? Did I say anything that indicated I'm a fan of anybody?

the post was about radio, and radio ads...george foreman advertised grills..sold millions and made millions ..one of the best endorsements ever..I'm saying no one's buying what SH is trying to sell..Ed Schultz is advertising GM HHR also...see if he does any better ..probably not

How come Hannity doesn't have Ron Paul on his show? he has Duncan Hunter, Huckaby etc on his show...he is a Hack that's why

Here is what you don't know from the inside. The Hannity Car Give-Away generated 1.4 million entrants for GM. It was one of their most successful contests ever. These are new potential car buyers who gave GM their e-mail addresses. Most people purchase a new car every 4-5 years, so having these contacts and opening the door to these potential customers is like a gold mine for GM. For that reason alone the contest was a success.

And it really it is not your job to determine if the contest worked or not. It is up to GM to decide, and since they recently re-upped for another long campaign on Sean's show, and also began buying Rush Limbaugh, I think it is safe to say GM thinks talkradio is a very successful advertising "vehicle."

1.4 million leads, how many are already GM owners? I'd go to trade shows and many people wanted the freebees-- but few were real potential buyers. When Hacknity was local, he did Jeep ads and drove a Jeep. now he's with GM drive a Cad pimpmobile. The can design a car for him, the "Bootlicker SS"

Mr. Boyce (who has a long and storied career in broadcasting) is on the mark when he indicates the ads were GREAT for GM.

No arguement.

The problem from my vantage point as a listener is the GM ads and a lot of waht happened around them were terrible radio. Ignoring for a moment that Sean needs some serious coaching on how to read an ad (the ones for GM sound no different than the ones for Microtel Hotels or the steak house...his delievery is at best stilted and monochromatic) the GM ads seemed to bleed into the program. Every time I turned around I listend to Sean talk about GM vehicles...both during and WAAAY after the spot. In some respects 9although this is taking it to the extreme) it was no better thna those 30 minute program length commercials I see (and then immediatly flip past) for the abdomionizer or that colon cleaning commercial

Then there was that artifical interview with the President and CEO (I believe) of GM. Not one hard question. I'm not suggesting they should have played "catch" with handgrenades, but this was a marshmallow interview if ever there was one.

GM made out like a bandit.

Just a reporter...thanks for listening. When you do a radio promotion like that it is always a juggling act to know how much is too much. We were giving away 6 cars in 6 weeks. Each week we had three different cars for listeners to choose from. And these were great cars like a Hummer, an Escalade, and a Corvette. We tried to make it fun, but you have to talk this up to make it big.

The true proof of the pudding is in the ratings. Hannity's numbers during this campaign were high. Listeners participated in the contest in high numbers and listened to hear their names on the radio.

GM made out like a bandit.

Yes they did. And so did we.

Good question. I don't listen to the blowhard every day, so I don't know.

If he hasn't had Ron Paul on, what legitimate reason is there for this supposed "newscaster" to not have him on?

After all, doesn't Slanthead say with a straight face - and his stupid radio station accomplists - that his show "is the best news and information hour available..."

I guess that means only news he agrees with.

Maybe Ron Paul turned him down.

Sean Hannity is not a newscaster. Editorialist yes, newscaster no.

He can call himself anything he likes including "God's second son" but all he really nothing more and nothing less than an entertainer and comedian with an opinion.

Right. A lower-tier candidate walking away from millions of potential voters at little or no cost to himself.

Though I'm not a big supporter of him (I'm independent), I don't disagree with Ron Paul; I actually saw a couple of Ron Paul revolution bumper stickers in that big liberal city of Philadelphia when I was in that boring talk town this week that relies on the likes of Hannity and Lim-bozo.

So Ron Paul has some support.

For Hannity to ignore him, yet go ga=ga over Arnold Schwartenager (spell) and others, shows how intellectually weak and one-sided this clown is.
