"Hannity" Cincinnati Tea Party Remote Canceled

A live broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Hannity" set to air on location at the Cincinnati T.E.A. Party event on Thursday night was canceled last-minute, after network executives learned that not only was the host, Sean Hannity, being billed as a "headliner" of an event that would be taking place while his Fox News program was on the air, but that people were being charged anywhere from $5 to $20 to attend (this source cites the maximum charge being $100). So they sent Hannity back to New York City to do his TV show on Thursday night from the Fox News studios. He had promoted the event on both his TV and radio show for weeks. (In fact, he promoted Thursday night's Tea Party event at Fifth Third Arena as late as the final segment of his radio show on Thursday afternoon - so did he take a jet from Cincinnati to New York within the three-hour window between the end of his radio and the start of his TV show? ??? )

Here's more coverage from the Cincinnati Enquirer:

An interesting passage here:

Word about Hannity’s possible cancellation came around 4:30 p.m. when the book-signing was supposed to start. Hannity wasn’t there. Shortly before 5 p.m. his bus pulled out of the parking lot... confusion swirled about the reason for Hannity’s departure. Tea Party officials said Fox producers told them a “family emergency” forced the cancellation. Hannity staff members at the event told the Enquirer – and many in the book-signing line – that a “technical issue” forced him to cancel.

Hmmm...

Two things that strike me as odd about this. The first one is that I happened to catch the end of the last hour of Hannity's radio show yesterday and it sounded like he was still there on-site. Yes, that could have been fabricated, but it's very odd.

The second one is even more troubling. Where does the Cincinnati Enquirer get off quoting a partisan website like Media Matters for information - then reporting it as straight news? Reading that raised all sorts of red flags because Media Matters is a leftist website bankrolled by George Soros. They certainly have a right to their opinion, but the Enquirer is being intellectually dishonest for quoting them as a "source" as if they are an information gathering organization.

Based on that alone, I take the rest of the article with a grain of salt.

As did I. It now appears that his radio show for that day (or at least the second half of it, anyway) was pre-recorded in advance, and there was clearly a plug for the "Fifth/Third Arena" toward the end, as I previously stated. Of course, Fox doesn't control the radio show, and wouldn't have as much power to change that... But when you have a book signing scheduled for right in the middle of his radio show, I guess it makes sense - what, he'd do a phoner with a guest and sign books while the guest answers questions?

I'm sure that crook Hannity kept all the money from the event as well. What was the "Family Emergency"? Did one of their five iPads break down?

What "money"? A crook? Please. ::)

You have no proof of that and are flaming Hannity because you dislike his politics.

Beyond that prejudice, some reading comprehension courses are also in order for you because the issue that FOX had was with the TEA party charging money for what was supposed to be a live airing of "Hannity" on FNC. Hannity didn't get a dime from that. It was the TEA party organizer. And, most of them are rank amateurs.

It doesn't take an attorney to figure out why FOX would have had an issue with this. However, I can't endorse it when some idiot from the network runs around lying about a "Family Emergency"; clearly that was a lie and lying is unacceptable no matter who does it.My guess is that it was some intern who came up with the "story" in order to facilitate an easy escape. It is quite clear to me, in reading the story, that a breakdown of communication took place. Sadly, the victims were those folks who paid good money thinking they'd see a 'show'.

The masses burned again by a fake political movement.

What a novel idea!

The party could well have been held without him. Heck, I've missed a few birthday parties that were held in my home, because I was out doing something else.

The party goes on.

I'll restrain my comment about Hope and Change because I don't want to be taken outside, but I don't believe that burning the group was Hannity's intention. From what I can ascertain, it was a miscommunication. Mind you, I am not his biggest fan. But I also believe in being fair.

I believe the use of the term "crook" would be in reference to his Freedom concerts.

Keep in mind: This piece was written by a conservative.

And what this conservative said has led to calls for investigations by, yes, the IRS and the FTC.

The fact this happened in Cincinnati has this gay guy from Columbus ROTFLMAO. ;D

Somebody get the scissors and cut off the conservative's coattails as the bus is rolling by.

"Despite?" It's not as though his normal in-studio shows don't lead the direct cable "news" competition pretty much every day.
