Hannity to leave ABC Radio?

That's a hot rumor going around, & he has about a month left on his ABC contract! Farid Suleman (ABC Radio parent Citadel's CEO) says that if it turns out that Hannity leaves, he has faith in his program directors to come up with something/one to replace him (good luck). Where would Sean Hannity go if he left ABC Radio? Westwood One? Or more likely, Premiere Radio Nets? Or perhaps he stays at home (so to speak) with Fox News Radio? Somewhere else?

Something must be wrong, go to the News/Talk Board and look at how some ABC Corporate Guy goes crazy over some off the wall comment made by a writer for the Las Vegas Review Journal-- writer "Elfman-Vegasland"

He said the Hannity Las Vegas Mini Freedom Concert only got 3100 people in a room that hold 9000. He also questioned how much money went to the kids of dead troops and how much went to pay for Hannity's Gulfstream Jet and Hotel.

Then he complains that people who post on the internet are not "identified." (Like callers to talk radio?)

hannity will find out like neal rogers in miami did aint that muh money out there any more. the market has changed maybe 18 months ago he could have got his price but not in todays radio climate

If I had to take a guess, I think it would be Premiere or Fox News if he does leave.

I saw those posts made by the higher-ups at WABC and I was wondering why the were on the defensive over some  disparaging remarks about Hannity. Would they have be so defensive if they were making those same comments about John Gambling six months ago? That or the higher-ups are trying to make last ditch declarations of loyalty to Citadel before they end up like Gambling, Core, Morgan etc.

Go FNR! Hannity would fit in perfectly with their lineup. Plus he's already in 1211 most of the day. Question is - who would sell it? FNR or PRN?

Hannity will be going to the Bush radio Network aka Fox Talk Radio and be the official spokesperson
of Dictator for Life Bush starting Jan 20 2009 when Bush starts his 3rd term (this one will last 40 years)

Wow... glad you took time to share.

If Hannity bolts, he will get paid big time.

gotta tell you guys again there is not a lot of money out there for talent. even talent like Hannity. there is a new economy out there folks unless your oil or the euro everything else is cheaper. radio is a microcosim of the wold. stations are selling for a lot less now than they did 18 months ago. every single radio company and station is worth less than it was 18 months ago. just about every talent that has signed a radio deal recently took a pay cut.

The guy is on 500 stations, he will take all the affiliates except the Citadel stations with him. He is gonna get paid.

I think the management at ABC Radio will do everything they can to re-sign
Sean Hannity, if you are the #2 "most listened to" talk show host in the U.S.,
you don't let him and his over 500 affilates defect.

If he's worth so much, then the ABC Suit should pay up, instead of complaining about my posts. Put your money were your mouth is --if Hannity is so great, and brings in so many people, then pay him $50 million a year. Talk, and internet posts are cheap, if ABC really cared, they would sign him to a liftime contract. Also, pay him in EUROS!

Here's the full text w/interesting poll:

Now, combine those poll results with an aging listenership, a public finally waking up to how they have been badly duped, you might conclude that Hannity, Limbaugh, Savage etc aren't in such a strong bargaining position.

BTW: Find a meaningfull amount of under-fourty listeners for this stuff. This sort of reactionary propaganda had a long run, but demos and circumstance has it heading for the cliff.

Lino:

If the station is on FM...you can get younger listeners.

By putting WHIO-AM onto 95.7 FM in Dayton, Ohio the station's audience has gone from 45+ to a solid 25-54 and 35-64 performer. Break out the numbers and you'd find the younger people listen exclusively to the FM, the older listeners exclusively to AM.

And in the latest ARB's - we are #1 12 plus, whereas before adding the FM signal, the station averaged #4 or #5 12 plus, only getting higher numbers during an election cycle. And, yes...we do it with a strong morning news show, followed by conservative talk the rest of the day.

You're missing the point, my friend. It's about entertainment and content...not politics.

"12 Plus" is a great way to camouflage problematic demos.

I looked at Arb's topline ratings for your market, while the AM is #1 (12+) the FM is second from last :WHIO-FM 2.6 -2.4.

The fact that a con-talker AM is #1 albeit 12+ in your market says more about that area than the format.

Here in NYC, WABC the Doberman of the right is (barely) in the top ten (12+) but has awful demos and is increasingly resorting to paid pregramming which now occupies almost a quarter of weekend airtime, has almost no local orgination other than syndication and bills almost $10 Million less than local non-comm WNYC's operating budget. WABc's sponsors are pretty much what you expect; a mix of baldness "cures, sexual dysfunction remedys and get rich quick/or get out of debt hustles.

It (WABC) has the oldest listeners in market steadily rising demos and like competitor WOR, is, or will soon be taking paid clearences from syndicators to survive.

WABC recent hires: 68 year old Don Imus and Bob (Gigante) Grant almost 80.

This stuff had it's time, did it's damage, will survive a while longer out in the hinterlands but eventually will join "nostalgia" formats.

What radio the younger generation listens to is mostly non-com.

Who cares of Hannity leaves WABC? It stinks anyways! It is the same old RNC talking points repeated all day long. Hannity has no insights or knowledge, he just parrots Limbaugh. Look at how bad it is at Cidadel: Don Imus, who should call his program,"a twelve step program for White racists", KKKurtis Sliwa, an admitted degenerate liar and con artist, and the rest are all repeating the same lines all day! Get The Right Perspective on WABC, and give people a REAL CHOICE!

And you're missing the point, my friend. It's about whom the "entertainment and content" is directed toward.

Remember: a lot of this discussion re audience age levels might be augmented by consideration of audience intelligence levels, as well--something which may be the hidden bigger dilemma faced by commercial radio today...
