Hannity Uses Radio Show For Campaign Fundraising

Jeanine Pirro visited Hannity's show today to discuss how wrong it is for Hillary Clinton not to announce that she is running in 2008 before the NY Senate Election. Pirro and Hannity had a nice little Clinton bashing chat which evolved into Hannity openly asking for campaign contributions for Pirro's campaign. 9/19/05

(snip)

Then Hannity praising Pirro asked his audience to contribute to Pirro's campaign. Hannity made sure everyone heard her web address and asked Pirro to spell her name for the listeners. Pirro didn't join Hannity in soliciting contributions but she expressed thanks and spelled her name and repeated her web address for listeners.

comment: The brief scenario seemed planned and Hannity most likely made sure he was covered by asking "What's the maximum I can give?" It seems like he and Pirro were pretty close to breaking campaign or FCC regulations and there is no doubt that there are some serious ethical ramifications connected with this kind of behavior.

The author wonders how much Hannity and Pirro and their ilk would freak out if say, Air America started fundraising for Hillary Clinton.

It's just plain wrong to ask for political $$$ over radio broadcasts, where are McCain's political finance reform laws?

You are correct. ABC = HANNITY AND O'REILLY plus NBCCBSCNN are all right wing too. And don't forget FOX.

For Sure. RBA, What are you trying to say?

Back to the point, Hannity should not be soliciting campaign funds for Pirro or anybody else, but he surely has a right to publicize websites and let the country know it is a real battle for more than just the NY Senate seat.
