HAPPENINGS AT CUMULUS YORK

Although details are sketchy, it looks like the Harrisburg people are now running the York radio stations. Seems like Todd Toerper is out as the GM and no one is saying it...the Harrisburg PD will be taking over the music for WSOX and WARM. Hmmmmmmmmm........

That is very interesting. But think about it....the two markets are pretty close by. It would make sense for Harrisburg to be calling the shots. John O'Dea has a great reputation as a PD and Ron Giannelli has a great reputation as a GM. But the real issue $$$$$$
I'd bet Harrisburg has been putting more on the books than York. That is ultimately why this decision was probably made.

More heads to roll? Stay tuned.

I for one hope that the Harrisburg people finaly decide to put ESPN radio on 910 instead of 1400. then I could listen anytime . 1400 gets covered by 1390 in Lancaster county.

What's really interesting is that it took days for this info to turn up anywhere. Heard about it earlier in the week but no details have been forthcoming. Anyone have any idea why the lid is on so tight?

If changes are made, they would be stratigic changes to possibly enhance their Harrisburg stations. Why would they put ESPN on 910? That would be giving a major gift to WHP. Word has that none of the Cumulus York stations are setting the market on fire with ratings....so let the speculation begin. Look for formats that Cumulus does NOT have in Harrisburg to possibly crop up. WNNK has become more mainstream AC of late.....so mavbe it's time to blow up WARM. WSOX does better in Lancaster than in York. Cumulus has no Country format in Harrisburg. Could a flip to Country on one of the York sticks impact BOB enough in Harrisburg, while possibly reaping big rewards in York and Lancaster. Remember WGTY's signal covers more of the WESTERN end of the York market, while WIOV is best in the EASTERN part of Lancaster County. Let's have fun with this!

I think the following story sums up why the silence:

In a nutshell, the group of stations that were formerly Susquehanna stations are now part of the regular Cumulus group. So, only one management team is now needed in Central PA.
