Happiness Is A Cut Cord

But given the trees in my yard, I think that's also an obstacle and probably very expensive.

You can always go to TV Fool and get a sense of what reception is like. The effects of trees can vary depending on the strength of the signals. Start here, put your address or lat-long coordinates in, and get the report. You can even share a link to the report if you wish. Your exact address and location would be hidden for anyone else to see.

In the UK it's less than a months subscription to a top cable package. I would imagine costs would be broadly similar over there. Obviously don't go on the roof unless you are 100% sure what you are doing- you could do an attic install yourself if that is adquate where you are?

As for the trees, it would depend where they are in relation to the transmitter, and how strong the signal is to begin with.
Well, the trees are beside my house and nowhere near the transmitter, and neither am I.

I have no way to get in the attic. There's a small opening I probably could squeeze through if I had the courage to remove the ... I don't know what it is. Not a door. And then given all the noise squirrels have made, it's surely a mess.
