Today, as most of you know, is Arizona Statehood Day. There's a huge Centennial celebration going on down at the state capitol with Mr. Las Vegas, Wayne Newton, performing in front of the capitol. A wonderful event for such a milestone day in the state's history.
You may be asking, what does this have to do with radio? Well this morning, toward the beginning of the gala, the event was being MCed by the one and only, Mr. Barbeque himself, Dave Pratt.
He joked, smiled and entertained the crowd with his "unique" sense of humor. Edge / X / FM My 103.9 was at the event with a huge tent and, at first, even though there was quite a huge crowd, nobody was stopping by the tent. As the day wore on, people started to stop by the tent to spin a big wheel of prizes and fun was had by all.
I got to say, it was difficult to assert who looked older, Mr. Las Vegas with all his botox and tan face, or Dave Pratt, a cranky old man who believes he's still young and hip wearing what appeared to be a Hawaiian shirt (which would be perfect for a barbeque!).
Taking into account his lame radio show, my vote goes to Mr. Barbeque! ;D
