KUBE's come a long ways since then

It was around this time ten years ago that the Seattle radio scene was shocked with the sudden demise of K106, spurred by Telecom '96. KBKS "Kiss" signed on the air, replacing longtime country outlet KRPM/KCIN "Kickin' Country K106". This had to be a very happy day for KMPS. After stunting with simulcasts from KMPS and maybe KYCW as well as ocean waves, Kiss 106 signed on the air with a "rhythmic-based AC" format. On the Friday kicking off Memorial Day weekend 1997, they switched to Hot AC, going head-to-head against Star. A couple of years later, Kiss became its current CHR self.

Anyone remember the KMPS quadcast? 94.1/1300/106.1/1090

They were pretty much full blown CHR musically after KBKS dropped Urban AC. It just had hot AC imaging At the time, CHR was all but dead in Seattle. It came back in baby steps.
