Happy 30th Anniversary, Howard Stern - W-NNNNNN-BC!

Remember the scene in the movie "Private Parts" when Howard Stern goes to report to WNBC-AM for the first time? That scene starts with the date appearing on the screen: "August 4, 1982."

That was exactly thirty years ago today. Granted, he wouldn't officially start on WNBC until August 29 of that year, but if the movie was accurate, it was in the early morning hours of August 5 that Stern, upon the request of "Pig Vomit" (Kevin Metheny), "showed him some character". ;D

Of course, some of the movie was a little changed up so I wonder just how accurate it is in general. Metheny was referred to as "Pig Virus" in real life, with "Pig Vomit" being used in the movie. That was according to a written account published some time ago but I don't recall the source publication.

On an interesting aside, a friend of mine who collects airchecks has the actual off-air WNBC aircheck of Stern doing his version of "Match Game" - complete with those creative answers!
 
Wasn't the name changed from Pig Virus to Pig Vomit because the Kenny character in the movie was a composite of Kevin Metheny and a second PD that Howie didn't get along with? It's been many many years since I read Private Parts, so my memory is hazy.
 
Pig Virus = Keven Metheny
Pig Vomit (Movie) = Kevin Metheney + John Hayes Jr. aka "The Incubus"
Pig Vomit (real life) = A band that played for some of Howard's events.
 
I thought the "Vinny" character from the movie was supposed to represent John Hayes. Had no idea "Pig Vomit" was a combo of the two.
