Happy 40th birthday, Channel 5!

Way up here in Hancock County Maine, I remember the early days of WCVB. As we all know, 24 hour broadcasting was rare. On many a Friday or Saturday night after WABI would sign off, WCVB would come in. It was the first time I had seen shows like "Thriller" with their "Five All Night" shows.

Wasn't skip wonderful? I miss those analog days.

Just two words: Janet Langhart. :-*

But seriously, growing up in the Portland, ME area the rivalry between WBZ and WCVB (I was more of a WBZ guy) was something to behold whenever skip was cooperative.

I often wonder what would have happened if the Herald-Traveler had held on to WHDH (a well-run operation by most accounts) and BBI ended up with RKO's lackluster WNAC instead.
