Happy 50th WILI!

WILI (1400-AM, Willimantic) first went on the air 50 years ago this past Friday. The station held a reunion of sorts Friday night and hosted a number of alums, as well as current employees, and community leaders. They also had a week of morning shows dedicated to the anniversary. The interviews (and pictures) can be found at www.wili.com/am. WILI still has many local programs and a great local news department-- proof that community radio is alive and well. A number of notable personalities got their start at WILI including Pat Sheehan, Mark Christopher, and Brian Lapis. Happy 50th!

You know when I was staying at UCONN Storrs for some classes in 1996, for the most part I had my radio tuned to Good Company 14 AM. Decent music mix, very good local news. Congrats from this Gold Coast resident to a gem of a local station on its Golden Anniversary.

Congratulations on turning 50! I remember Wayne Norman back in my WHUS days in the 60's and early 70's, along with such luminaries as Les Morrel and Steve Kotchko. Wayne didn't fall too far from the tree, though!
