This year marks the 90th. anniversary of RTE, Radio Telefis Eireann. As a visitor to Ireland 3 times, I have a very special interest for this station. It originally started as 2RN, a radio station used for the Eucharistic Congress that year in Dublin. Over the decades, it brought an Irish perspective to world events, while at the same time presenting the very best in drama, music, light entertainment, news and sports, particularly the All Ireland Gaelic Football and Hurling championships. Despite satellite TV and independent radio breathing down its necks, RTE continues to lead the way in the Emerald Isle for the very best in breaking news, entertainment and sports.
