Happy Birthday (and zorch!) to Red Blanchard

One of the zaniest, nuttiest, nicest people in the history of radio, the great Red Bogardus Blanchard of the Red Blanchard Show, turns "only" 88 tomorrow (March 11). He was one of KCBS' most popular stars in the 1950s, and went on to cult hero status at KNX and KFWB in L.A.

If you aren't familiar with him, please do yourself a huge favor and check out www.RedBlanchard.com for a few minutes (or a few hours).

And, if you can spare an extra moment, drop him a birthday greeting at [email protected]

DJ

In the mid 50's Red had a show on the ABC radio network. I called him to say I used to listen to the show in cue from KBLF in Red Bluff. Red Laughed and said that no station actually carried the show, he was just keeping the network line hot.

...And for those of you that actually turn the pages of your calendar over each month, what I actually meant is that Red turns 88 tomorrow (June 11).

Please don't let my inability to tell one month from another stop you from sending him best wishes for a bully-bully-bully birthday.

...This is June, isn't it?
