Happy Birthday Magic 96 2-27-07

The history of 100.3 (Triad Market) is a little different that previously stated:

100.3 was WGLD FM - owned by Bernie Mann and programmed as Beatutiful Music until the mid-to-late 80s when it became Joy-100FM. In 1988 or 1989, it became B-100 FM (WWWB) under PD Tom Jackson.

When Mann was taken over by the company that eventually became AM/FM. B-100 was changed to FOX 100.3 and then later AM/FM changed it to WHSL 100 to compete with Clear Channel's WTQR.

When CC bought AM/FM they converted 100.3 to The Buzzard and put classic country on 94.5 for a couple of years.

If anyone really cares ...

I can provide additional info about WWWB if you would like - for example:

* First B-100 PD was Tom Jackson.
* Max & Pam (McGann) were the married morning team for a number of years. They came from Florida.
* Jim Schafer was the morning for a while before going to Magic in Charlotte.
* The request line number was one digit difference from a pizza joing on the east side of Winston-Salem. The night guys had some incredible fun with some of their customers.

Afraid you're incorrect on your Jim Shafer history. He wasn't the morning guy there. Did mornings at WTDR before we went to Magic.

Shafer was the morning man at B-100 for a very brief period in 1994. I know, I hired him!
