Happy birthday Sesame Street!

I actually recall sitting and watching this premiere episode as a very young lad.
Which means I will try not to think about the date on that premiere much for the rest of the day! :)

I also remember my father physically dragging me to the television that same year and
sitting me down in front of the Apollo 11 moon landing. "You'll want to be able to tell your
grandchildren some day that you saw this" he said. My brother and I were so young my mom
must have thought he was nuts.

But he was right. Thanks, Dad!

Matt Robinson was the first Gordon in the regular series, but there was another actor, who no one can remember the name of, who played Gordon in a series of five pilot episodes aired on the now-defunct WHUY Channel 33 in Philadelphia.

No one at the Workshop Formerly Known as Children's Television can find any record of who the actor actually was.

The latest consensus on Facebook seems to be that it's Greg Morris from "Mission: Impossible" or Georg Stanford Brown from "The Rookies."

Actually, it was WUHY channel 35, the second station of WHYY: WUHY has no relation to today's WYBE.

Thank you for the correction. In the back of my head I knew it was WUHY 35 but I made the mistake of trusting the Muppet Wiki.
