"Happy Days (Again)"; "Laverne & Shirley (& Company)"

Wasn't that the continuation of the series in original episodes after they revamped it (running for one season before he passed away)?

The Ted Knight Show was the continuation series.

Carol Burnett was "Carol Burnette & Friends"

I read the reason was also so stations would not try to pass off reruns as first runs.

If you recall this renaming basically stopped in the early 80s and before, and a lot of people still lived in areas that didn't have all three networks, or if they did, one of the channels (usually ABC before the 70s realign) didn't come in clear enough to be worth watching.
