"Happy Holidays from Fox 10"

I don't watch much TV, but I saw the "Happy Holidays from Fox 10" ad yesterday. I can't say how much I LOVE it-- every year, how can it not put you in a good mood? I remember these ads from when I was a toddler, at least.

Leads me to wonder... how long has Fox 10 been doing the ad? And is there a place on the web where we can see the ads from year to year?

May sound funny, but I love 'em. ;D

Wasn't 10 a CBS affiliate when you were a toddler KLL? Did they do the same "Happy Holidays" thing then too?

Good Heavens! Was that a ghost Close?

They may have started the "Happy Holidays from channel (Fox) 10"
promos within a year or two after the earlier '86 version, as I recall
seeing a "Close encounter" on at least one of the seasonals.

Are they still using the "scratchy 16mm film look" this year?

However, I'm thinking of the song:

I hear sleigh bells ring (sleigh bells ring)
I hear carolers sing (carolers sing)
And I see evergreen (evergreen)...

I was thinking of the same song when I opened this thread up! :D

I've got 1986 covered for you.

Although a great clip, this was a New Year's Day promo, while KLL had the Christmas holiday jingle in mind. I agree with her: it's a winner. It's upbeat without being sappy.

I don't remember how long they've been doing it - I've been in the Valley since 1993, when channel 10 was CBS affiliate KTSP - but I don't recall seeing it until after they became a Fox affiliate in 1994.

I fondly remember it was 1993 when then-KTSP (under the leadership of the late Ron Bergamo) introduced this jingle to Phoenix. Those were the days of Dave Patterson and June Thomson (and I believe Claren Scott was still there at the time).

I think the true key to its longevity had to be the years Jim Girodo was head of on-air promotions for 10. It just became a tradition under him.

It did start in 1993 on Channel 10 and has played every year. Here is a link to buy the full version of the original song that was adapted to create the promos:http://jollydemis.com/store.html Many people have loved this song for years in several markets. Jolly Demis (yes his name is Jolly) wrote and sings "Christmas Time Again".
