Happy Thanksgiving!

Wow, looking at their(WCBS FM) playlists a little closer led me to believe that this is one very different oldies radio station. They played "More than a feeling" by Boston. Our 96.3 or 97.1 as oldies station snever tapped into classic rock hits terriorty did they? If they did, I do not remember that.

I'm still trying to change this to Happy New Year!

97.1 was just beginning to play late '70s oldies during their waning days as an "oldies" station.

Has anyone noticed that 97.1 no longer promotes their "listener comment line"? I think the number started with either 312 or 314. Anyway, they played (over the air) the brown-nosing, butt-kissing comments, but I'm sure they also got quite a few profanity-laden comments, the "bring back Coyote" comments, and the plain ol' "you suck" comments. They never played any of mine, and I did none of the above. I just offered "constructive" criticism, and asked them why they weren't playing certain songs that they weren't playing. I didn't necessarily want my comments played over the air. I just wanted them to take my suggestions under consideration. Yeah, right, like they were going to do that! ::)

I like the music 97.1 plays, although i never listen to them. Sometimes i tune them in, just to see if their playing a song i haven't heard in awhile. They have started playing more variety the last 2 or 3 months, than they did at the beginning, but i don't think it's gonna help them in the ratings, and i'm pretty sure they will flip formats this year. I just don't think theres enough listeners in the Nashville market for two classic rock/hits stations. I'm really surprised how good the "Rock" has done. I really didn't think they would last this long. 97.1 should have stayed Oldies, they had double the ratings that the "Tower" has, and the "Rock" was already playing the music they switched to. Just a stupid move altogether, like they don't have a clue. I think an all 80's format would do better than what their doing now on 97.1. I know they tried that awhile back, but it's got to do better than a 2.0 rating.

Only one time have I ever called to use those comment lines. Do you all remember when a talk radio host at 99.7, Zeigler was his name. He was fired for using the N word. Now I know that is nasty word and under normal circumstances that should never be tolerated period!!!

This case though Ziegler used the world to make a point about what a low down piece of scum Mike Tyson had become. I understood and knew that Zeigler was trying to make a point, but it just came out wrong. The man was fired the next night. I called to say that his comments in this case were very much taken out of context and he really was making a point. Did not matter, he was fired! Case closed!!

I think he is now out in LA somewhere working in LA talk radio.

There was this other time I called to gripe about Bob Bell and Bill King being pushed out of the door at 1510 WLAC to make room for that flaming nutcase, Michale Savage. I commented that the move was total BS!!!!

Do people actually listen to these comment lines and do they make a difference. I was always thought that some corporate big wig lying on some beach in Barbados or somewhere with a rum punch in his hand talking via a cell phone had already made these decisions. Love yah babe, Meeeeean it!! Sheesh. Anyway. LOL
