Happy Trails, "Delaware Tonight"

The FCC or the station should really change its city of license of the TV station to Philadelphia instead of Wilmington because this move shows that they are no longer committed to Delaware. The station should have been licensed to Philly to begin with. One person said:
As a former anchor of WHYY this action really is no surprise since the station's focused has always been Philadelphia and not Wilmington, the city of license.

Read up on the rules regarding COL.

Maybe WHYY can work with MPT to air a small local news program for the Delmarva area (southern Delaware, at least) on WDPB...

WHYY has never really wanted to be a Wilmington station, as the Philly market has many more potential contributors. They sold the FCC and Delaware a bill of goods back in 1963 and have basically treated Delaware as the "red headed step child". Frankly I'd like to see WHYY's license challenged and give the license to someone else that will actually serve Delaware and let WHYY go back to channel 35 where they were prior to 1963. In today's cable ready world it wouldn't hurt them at all. I know as a Former contributor to WHYY they've gotten their last dime from this Delawarean. Oh sure I'll still watch channel 12 and listen to 90.9 FM, but I'll let you Philadelphians pay the freight as WHYY really is YOUR public station as they don't really care if I tune in or donate. So why throw good money after bad. WOW ! a weekly news magazine just for Delawareans coming soon on channel 12. Oh they're so good to us people in Delaware - NOT!!

There's a news story about a Wyoming TV station appling to move to Wilmington. The thread is listed under Philadelphia TV. So maybe Delaware will finally get a real TV station of its own.

If it makes the move, the Wyoming station better be ready to back up that committment with a strong news operation and other local programming. The existing station is a semi-satellite to KPVI Pocatello, ID. But a true Delaware station can succeed, if they do it right. WMGM-TV Atlantic City carved its niche. So did WFMZ-TV Allentown.
