I hope you all have a great thanksgiving... May we all stay on the air. May dead spots all be put to bed. Let us hope the parttimers show up. in his mane we pray
amen...

I just gotta find my copy of the :21 riff at the start of Arlo Guthrie's original "Alice's Restaurant" recording. Can't imagine doing the show Thursday without that as my o&c music. I can't do the entire 18:20 cut, but at least I can get the major theme down and loop it a few times as I talk over the start of the show. The deserving will recognize what I'm doing.<P ID="signature">______________

My Deer Cap'n Crunch Shorts....Are there still stations that have part timers?
Not the automated airstaffs we are all learning to love and live with.
Deer Cap'n if you are out in the woods on your holy day...keep the antlers on.

I believe 102.3 the Mountain plays the entire song every Thanksgiving a couple times.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone,

Two things, ROCK 107 actually has LIVE in the studio part time personalities. They will be manning the entire holiday (as they do each and every weekend) and thank God for them. Second ROCK 107 will play Alice's Restaurant 3 times on Thanksgiving Day 9AM, NOON and 6PM as is our holiday tradition. Not sure if the Mountain will be doing it too. If I were a betting man I'd put money on them doing it as well.

Have a safe holiday and be careful traveling.

then at 4pm and again at 7pm.

Well I for one can not get enough of that song. I hope some other station steps up and plays it five times. Six. I think it could be a format unto itself!

Oh wait, I probably won't even flip on a radio tomorrow. Nevermind.

WAZL also has actual live part-timers, and they will be doing their thing this weekend. We don't have Alice's Resturant, but we would buy you a "Jimmy's Hot Dog"

I just got a request for it down here on B104... and yes, there a live ppl on B104 & ZZO today... good thing, too, cuz of another crash on 78.

This is an institution still very close to everyone's heart
on Thanksgiving. Another by gone radio one was the WARM Turkey
Trot. Remember West's Wishbone, Gilbert's Gobbler, Carlson's
Cranberries, Shaver's Stuffing, and of course the track
announcer Tommy Feathers. The winner got a Turkey, the loser
got a TV Turkey dinner.
And they'reeeeeeeeeeeeee off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That damn turkey race has been running through my head for at least a week. The only problem with the "pick a winner" promotion was some times you had to "fix the race" to be sure they won, else you may never give anything away. Ahhh remember when listeners actually had to listen for giveaways? Remember when a giveaway was something interactive? How 'bout the impossible to decipher music montages Ben Smith used to make. Usually including one note from Genesis' "Lamb Lies Down". Now they're just told the exact time to be the exact caller number.
