HARASSED BY XM TELEMARKETERS!

Long story short, I bought a new car that had XM built in, but my old car had Sirius so I dumped the Sirius service. With a new car, you have XM "free" for 3 months.

For about the past month or so, I've been continually getting calls from XM Radio wanting for me to subscribe. The first few times I had said no, I will wait for the 3 months (since with the merger, I don't know if my favorite channel on XM will be lost...and if that's the case I wouldn't want XM).

They have been calling most EVERY DAY! I keep telling them to put me on a DO NOT CALL LIST but the calls keep coming in! I spoke to a manager to make sure that I was on a do not call list...they tell me it takes 7 days. 25 minutes after that request ANOTHER CALL COMES IN! And as I type this I get another call!

I know Sirius XM has taken major blows from the economy. But do they think by harassing me every single day with a phone call, I would want their service???

How many of you have had similar issues? And who do you go to take this to a higher level? The FTC? Better Business Bureau? I want to put a stop to this!

How about those of us who subscribed to both for the two or thre year deal? What happens if all the XM channels go away?

You need to email the national registry at: https://www.donotcall.gov

Once they have confirmed you are on the list you can use that same URL to submit complaints if the calls are not stopped.

Greeting and Salutations Tony,

It's a good idea to register at https://www.donotcall.gov , if you already havent, but............. that being said may or may not stop the calls from XM; if you read their FAQ section; question 28 addresses this situation (basically the loopholes) and you can still receive calls from political candidates and parties, charities (Police Atheletic League etc) and business you have a relationship with; so if you're an XM subscriber they can call you or if you're a Bank of America customer, they (BOA) can call you to sell you c.d.'s, investment schemes etc.).

I think most of us have caller i.d. and if I receive a call that doesn't plainly identify the caller, I just don't answer, if it's that important, that unknown caller can leave a message and then I will be the one making the decision as to whether to return the call; I don't believe in being a slave to my telephone.

Maybe if you call XM and threaten to discontinue the service immediately, even though you're still in the trial period and explain that you don't appreciate all the harrassing calls, maybe they might back off to keep you as a customer after the 3 month trial period. (hopefully)

btw- 92.5 fm in this area plays a variety of music, but no dance. (ref to questions on the St. Petersburg/Tampa boards

This is most likely an issue with their autodialer, a piece of software that makes the calls, determines if there is a human on the other end, then connects with an agent. It sounds like it is not updating its database correctly after making a call.

Drt is correct:
Companies with which you have an "existing business relationship" may call you for 18 months whether you're on the do not call list or not.
If you enter a contest or call a company for information they may call you for 3 months unless you buy something-then it's 18.
Political campaigns, charities, banks, long distance companies, and airlines are exempt. Also exempt is ANYONE who calls you from the same state you're in. The Federal rule only covers calls that cross a state line.
