The Hard Rock Cafe, after 20 years in Dallas, is leaving March 1st.

Just another sign that Rock and Hard Rock, in Dallas is sliding evermore into a pathetic state.

Dallas--- Your Rock Radio Playlists -- S-U-C-K

LAME, WEAK, TIRED, PREDICTABLE, SOULESS, VAPID BLAHHH

And now, the Hard Rock Cafe is leaving!

Way To Go, Dallas!

Man, I hate to state the obvious but the Hard Rock Cafe closing has nothing to do with radio in Dallas or anywhere else. They barely have anything to do with "hard rock" period. Hard Rock Cafes are a showcase for music memorabilia from all types of artists - rock and otherwise. Prince and Madonna both have items on display at various Hard Rocks.

Hard Rock Cafe - music memorabilia and lame, weak, tired, predictable, soulless, vapid chain restaurant food. And t-shirts. Can't forget the t-shirt sales.

One toke over the line....... ;)

Poor management, not music is what lead to the demise of that establishment. Other than a couple of guitars and gum wrappers plus a good pulled pork sandwich, what was really special about the place? Send me to that gritty piano bar in Dallas Alley any day over the Hard Rock Cafe.

Read betwen the lines folks. The Hard Rock in Dallas is closing, and will most likely reopen in a couple of years at a new and Better LOCATION.The McKinney ave location was the pits. I would not be surprised to see them open in Addison, Around the AAC or by the new stadium in Arlington. Time will tell, but they will be back sooner than you think.

Yep....they will resurface either at Victory or Jerryworld. If not I want the two ZZ Top guitars that were on the upper right side of the stage. ;D

The food was sub par at best but it was a pretty cool concert venue. Best seats were on the upstairs rail.

Hard Rock Cafes work in areas that have year round tourist traffic. Someplace like the Stockyards or Sundance Square. I've been to the one in Boston and the one in Vegas... both were better than Dallas.

I'd vote for Frisco or McKinney, TX - where the population growth is. As for the downtown location - I love the Hard Rock. But I've been to the one in Houston several times (only because it diagonally across from their Downtown Aquarium) and NEVER to the one in Dallas. Location sucks. Parking is difficult. Streets one way, at crazy angles, and its easy to get lost. And - final blow - three words: "displaced Katrina refugees". Downtown = DANGEROUS. Put the Hard Rock in Addison, Frisco, by the new Cowboys stadium, in McKinney - I'll be a regular. Put it by AAC - FORGET IT. I hate going down there because I get lost every time. The streets are confusing and the police try to get me to go SOUTH after events. I don't want South I want NORTH and it takes a long time to get out of there.

Get out of the suburbs and live a little.....It'll be near the AAC. Victory PLaza is exploding...House of Blues will open soon a few steps away....That area is booming, while the West End decays.

Yeah, that's the "Dallas" way of doing traffic. Some thing never change. What does change is the price to park. But, inadaquate parking at major venues in Dallas.... That, song remains the same..... Unless you're rich, and park in their garage, or a season ticket holder..... All others.... guess you better take the train!

Interesting point. I would say that if listeners bought and consumed regularly some of the products that advertise on rock radio, that that may help caner to from. But I have no specific evidence that drinking lots of beer and watchng UPN causes caner....

But, if Dallas Rock radio had been playing great rock tracks all along, instead of their corporatized hit mix, then, perhaps there would be less cancer, due to a well balance diet of great rock. The "McDonald's" diet of corproate rock, sells adds, but, the long term effect is not conducive to good listener health. Who knows, maybe a "healthy" dose of Rock'n'Roll can prevent or, even cure cancer in our lifetime!!

The sad part is, they're going to demolish the building and put a CVS on top of the property....

Gypsy Tea Room is closing too. I hope the Granada can hang on. Will the House of Blues have that big of an effect on the music scene?

It took the local media 11 DAYS to catch this story. I first heard it on January 29, and the big story on most newscasts last Friday was this revelation about the Hard Rock.

It's my understanding that the owners of Hard Rock (who are not the original owners, of course) are strictly interested in developing and growing their Las Vegas location, and have decided to let the others die a slow death and to fade away. So I wouldn't put much stock into an idea that they'll relocate. Let's just hope that all the cool memorabilia won't end up under some Caterpillar's tracks.

Indeed, as previously mentioned, a sparkling new CVS PHARMACY will soon grace the former Hard Rock location. So not only will Uptown get another drug store it doesn't need (a Walgreen's & an Albertson's are a few steps away,) but the old church building that the Hard Rock uses will be mercilessly razed. CVS is also the reason that most of the ambience of Denton's Fry Street is about to face the bulldozer. All those cool little pubs and pool halls that me and fellow Mean Green-ers used to frequent are being leveled right now as we speak, all in the name of cotton swabs and Cialis prescriptions.

Mike, from what I understand about the HR business module, the memoriabilla is all stored in a central warehouse and rotated throughout the chain. The good news is that the dallas stuff will go to either houston, SA or both. Also, from what im hearing Preservation Dallas is getting involved in saving the building, so lets not count it out just yet.

Gopher, the GTRs problems stem from the simple fact the owner owes over 90k to the IRS in back taxes and penalties for three other failed business ventures he ran into the ground in both ellum and downtown. It kills me to see us losing decent middle size venues in this area (Trees, Arcadia, Fry Street) where alot of road bands prefer to play than going into a HoB or Palladium where the house takes a much larger cut of your profits.

Go downtown and get mugged, get drunk, and get lost? I'll stick with Addison, Plano, and Frisco thank you. Plenty of parking, really safe, and I never drink anyway. If people like it downtown, I'm happy for them. Not to my taste.

Hard Rock typically locates in cities people have heard of. Addison, Plano, Frisco??? And if you've traveled any..you would be shocked to see how many Americans, not to mention foreigners, know nothing of Fort Worth...so I wouldn't hold my breath. Hard Rock Cafe's are having a difficult time in most cities. Thier concept has grown tired and old school. They're mostly concentrating on the Hotel concept, which is doing well. The HR coporate office is supposedly looking for a Dallas location for a hotel. (I doubt if that 's true, Dallas is building luxury hotels like crazy). You will see more of them close, and it has nothing to do with radio, music, or location. The HRC idea is old and stale..simple as that.
