Hardline vs RM

The Star Telegram has suspended a columnist while his legal case goes through the judicial system:

After the Hardline talked about this story yesterday, they said radio is different. You can get away with anything and still get back on the air. They said you can beat up your girlfriend, pull out her hair and point a gun at her.

I guess the difference is that the Telegram still has a reputation to protect.

Maybe one of the reasons newspaper revenue and circulation is falling so fast is that they do not believe in basic American tenets like "Innocent until proven guilty."

I was hoping for a steel cage match for the ages versus the combined teams of both shows...Instead, we get another misleading topic, thanks smoke for getting our hopes up, then kicking us in the jimmy ;)

In all seriousness, the narcissistic mindset of many broadcast talents, esp. the on-air staffs of both shows mentioned, are pretty much allowed to get away with anything short of murder due to their position and power it entails. While one of the currents trial has not come yet (and it will), there will be a degree of evidence that will have to be presented, remember russ is innocent until proven guilty. The reason there has been scrunity concerning this reporter is simple: He knowningly deserted his kid and it was witnessed by people in the restaurant. In fact, he admitted to it already.

Don't buy it. This has nothing to do with innocence or guilt. It's PR 101.

Things are literally so bad for CBS that they have to throw a guy back on to the air when any other healthy company wouldn't risk it.

The Telegram's suspension doesn't presume guilt, it simply protects the company from a worse PR black eye.

Aside from all this, the man was charged with a freakin' felony. That, my friends, is the 60's Dr. Spock mentality coming home to rest in a far too pc culture. Wrong is right and right wrong.

Wow, people still read the newspaper?
