Hardline with Hardwick

Count me among those who are disappointed that Kevin Hardwick is giving up his Sunday show on WBEN to run for the County Legislature. For this "political junkie," Hardline with Hardwick was "must listen to" radio. There are a number of respected political scientists at our area colleges and universities. But Kevin was rare because he knew how to do radio. He pressed his guests. He didn't let them get away with not answering the question. But he did so with respect and integrity. The debates before the primary and general elections and the roundtable with local reporters questioning the newsmakers were always interesting.

Kevin says it's time to move beyond being a "color commentator" to become an active player in the game. But I would argue that Kevin did so much more for our political discourse on the radio than he will ever be able to do as a member of the minority in the County Legislature (of course, he needs to get elected first). But I wish him well, and thank him for four great years of great Sunday listening!
