Hardly A Surprise: Sinclair Pulls Plug On "News Central" At WVTV

In a move that was widely expected, Sinclair Broadcasting has announced that it will shut down the local newsroom of WVTV-18. The last newscast will be on March 31st. This is a link to a story from the Milwaukee Business Journal actually writen some hours before the shutdown of WVTV's local newsroom became official. The article speculated that WVTV's last newscast would be broadcast on March 31st; that will indeed be the case.

With Sinclair having closed down several local newsrooms over the last few months, and with the company announcing that three other newsrooms (besides WVTV, local news at WNYO-49 Buffalo and WTTA-38 Tampa Bay is also being discontinued) within a 24-hour period, the future of the entire "News Central" concept is in question. How long will it be until it closes down??

Doesn't suprise me.. The newscast could never compete w/ WITI. Any word on if Sinclair will try to farm out a cast?
