Hardware streaming encoders?

I've seen lots of integrated video/audio solutions, but I was looking for something that does audio only, and is capable of windows media and mp3. Does such a thing exist?

The Barix Instreamer 100 does MP3 and MPEG2 coding. To my knowlege, no one makes a hardware based Windows Media encoder; Microsoft won't license one.

Cool, I didn't know vbrick did audio only. I can't believe microsoft won't license it out, I was under the impression they gave it away!

For $300 barix is wonderful. Started looking at these about 8 years ago when I found them in an upscale home in the sound system. Exstreamer.

Every now and then I get am rf but would get this in anything with unbalanced audio.

If you set the output high enough it overcomes many problems. I use a compellor to feed the encoders. You can feed with mms or http mp3 or the barix feed. rtp brtp

Mainly using computers on the encode end but have been experimenting with the Instreamer the past two days. Not happy with the time it takes to buffer but admittedly I am lacking in sleep and not thinking straight. Goes with getting complaints from people who can't hear their favorite radio station. Some times I can get it to immediately buffer and play, other times, 2 minutes to buffer and play. Wonder if something changed in setup while I tried to establish my own network again.

Originally we fed wma but ran into problems with bandwidth, so we swithced to mp3 on shoutatme with just a few streams leaving our site.

We had the wma protocol in all the barix exstreamers as backup until problems last weekend. It will allow you to embed 3 streams or more in each box, and has capacity for a 2 to 8 g jump drive, usb.

When you have a feed to a full power that is chained to this and the backup then the main die you are ...out of options.

I would love to know all there is to know about a udp or tcp stream given the large amount of traffic that the unit claims to be able to handle.

I have had it a few years but had a project for it that didn't pan out. Like the easy to reach menu, and if I knew more about the whole process it might have been an easy startup.
