Harold Camping Hospitalized After Suffering Stroke

Did he have a stroke prior to this one? I seem to recall a much different voice years ago...his voice in recent years has sounded like he had some sort of problem.

Howard:Maybe this too is a sign from the Lord to retire and sell off your stations to someone who will actually some thing people will actually listen to??

I think that just naturally comes with age, but I could be wrong...

Anyway, the stroke has greatly impacted his ability to speak.

What does one say about a man that has told millions to leave their churches, that the church age is dead and that the world will end in May 2011?

I truly hope this pushes Camping to get out of Family Radio and let someone take over who will put it back in the right direction. It won't bother me if they stay traditional in their music as long as someone takes control that will change the network back to biblically sound teaching, drop the date setting, and not be a yes man to Camping.

I should mention that I would not desire any harm befall this man and he has been a tool for the Lord at times.

Camping's "prediction" as a good thing.

Many asked about Christ, and it opened dialogue.

We know how the media feels about us.

I don't know how traditional their music is now but I was in Myrtle Beach,SC in the 90s and not happy with the easy listening station. I discovered one of Harold Camping's stations (I think) and wrote to tell them how much I liked the music. They kept sending me literature with ideas about Christianity I didn't agree with and I asked them to stop. They're no longer in Myrtle Beach, but another station with some music (but mostly preaching and talk) that is relatively traditional has a translator there.

Still no admission that he was wrong, by either Camping or anyone else from Family Radio?

Also, the article says the potential buyer is CBS. Didn't this happen before with Camping selling stations to CBS? Apparently they'd rather sell to a secular group than to sell to any Christian orgnization that disagrees with Camping theologically, which would be just about everyone else?

Camping has sold to CBS before, yes - but to others as well. In the case of 106.9 in San Francisco, CBS was the only logical trade partner, since it had to divest AM 610. But in other cases, Family has sold to Clear Channel (San Diego) and KQED public broadcasting (Sacramento). Whether those were deliberately made with secular broadcasters, or whether the secular broadcasters were the only ones to meet Family's terms, I do not know.

Is that necessary? Isn't it obvious enough that he was wrong?
Sure, it would be nice for him to admit his mistake, but if you don't get it, don't be surprised.
It's obvious to God that he was wrong. Hopefully that's who he's confessed to by now. We're down the list in the equation...

It's not so 'apparent.' Money undoubtedly comes into play, not just the theological bent of the programming.

Seems reasonable to me. Didn't he say the church age was dead or the church had already been judged? That leaves secular broadcasters.
