Harold Miller sells

Not sure there was much money in all but the Florence markets.

Cat Daddy made most of his money upgrading and moving stations. 95.9 into Charleston made him bank. And WSCZ Winnsboro eventually paid off, too, when it moved officially out of the Columbia market and could be bought by Alpha.

His 94.9 translator currently in Orangeburg has applied to move to the top of the Capitol Center in downtown Columbia where it will join WWNQ, WARQ, and the WLTY backup. The translator will essentially be a Class A that cannot originate programming.

At a huge cost to WKZQ which I don't think ever recovered after moving from its longtime 101.7 frequency.

Apex paid WKZQ some good money to make that happen so that they could finalize the deal to move the then WWBD into Charleston.

Yeah, but if you look at what happened to their 12+ ratings, was it worth it? And those are the only ones I know about. WKZQ has recovered in recent years, so maybe things will be all right.

That probably has more to do with the programming than anything. It was basically a frequency change. C2 <-> C2 facility swap, with the WKZQ site coming moving closer to the coast from a site farther inland. Doesn't seem to have affected much of the population in the book area.

On this site, though, there were comments about the station not having as much of a range. I know it ddn't reach Florence very well after the change, and Florence has no comparable station.

What does Miller have left in Florence? I know there's WSIM, which was soft AC and then someone said it switched to Hot AC, but I would think with WDAR-FM no longer doing AC they would have gone back to AC.

I went to the beach this week. WSIM is "2K and now". Not even 90s. Probably Hot AC, but some would argue those songs I heard could be AC.

Community Broadcasters has made NO changes to the old Miller Communications stations since they took over in August....Nothing is different but the new stations ID.

Sumter's Community Broadcasters has new ID's this month for the stations and a new website http://cbsumter.com/.
(FYI) You can now listen to Sumter's Radio stations now by choosing a station and then choose listen live on the website.
cbsumter.com is (community broadcasting Sumter). So much for Sumter Radio for now....
