Harris FM10K photos wanted

Just looking for a bit of history here. If anyone has some good photos of the Harris FM10K I'd be most grateful.

Google is a tad short on them.

I have a 10 K, still humming along. Put it on the air in 1988. Building is kind of small, difficult to get good shots of it. BTW--need a plate current meter for it. Old meter had its pointer hop off the pivot.

??? Hartford photos don't seem to show a K. Unless it is the Gates Green transmitter at the far left of one photo. With the K series Harris switched to a black and white, later blue and white color scheme, although there were a few green MW-1's made. Possible that there might be a transition "K" with green "H" series coloring.

There are some shots of a blue transmitter--with doors. My "K" doesn't have doors, doesn't have any where to hang them, and isn't that wide.

WCCC is a B, not a B-1. My station is a B-1, 25 kw @ 100 meters AHAAT, or, in my case, 17 kw at 119 meters AHAAT--8.6 kw into a 4 bay some 175 feet above ground.

Ah..that has to be a 20K at WCCC. Explains the doors. To get 23 KW through about 100 meters of feedline to a 3 bay requires around 16 kw in drive, as shown in the one photo of the in-line watt meters.

Let me see if my manual has a good photo of a 10K--I can only get partial shots on my box where it sits.

Cheers guys. It's the blue FM10K like this one here: http://www.necrat.us/wezn-8t.jpg

I'm not stuck or needing anything urgently, just hoping to get photos of external and internals if and when people can take them.

I still have one in use as a spare so if you are in a bind I can snap some images on Monday and send them to you.

Thanks for the link.. some interesting archive stuff there!

Same size as mine--must be an older model. As I mentioned, mine has no doors, (no place to hang them). My 10K came right off the floor in Vegas in '88--we made a partial trade for a 2.5K for a new station. Harris came out with the HT10 shortly after.

I can send some photos in a day or two--I have the carcass of a 10K in the garage of our one station. Incidentally--if you need some parts for one of these beasts I'll see what I can scavenge off the body.

I can probably get some internal photos of the working 10K in a few weeks. Had it off yesterday, trying to replace the plate current meter. An old Simpson meter I had didn't work--transmitter overloaded. Had to put the "dead" meter back.

Cheers for that Tom.. would be greatly appreciated. Just PM me with a link or I can give you my email. I don't have any need for parts at this point, but it's good to know there are still some floating around.

The blue transmitter with the double front doors is indeed a 10k from about 1977 I believe. Still in standby service at WCCC-FM and working great. Runs 10kw out into the old 5-bay which is our back-up yielding 23kw ERP. I can get some interior and exterior shots later this week. Is there anything specific inside that you need close ups of???

We have a 20K as a primary. It still runs quite well. It used to run horribly, but once we had a really good engineer who took it on as a project and stripped it down and fixed it properly (most everything was jumpered and nasty). After his cleanup and proper repair, it has been a reliable box.

When he left, we were fortunate to hire another great engineer and he has kept it running well. The only modification is that it uses a more modern exciter as opposed to the MS-15 that came with it.
