harris Z ampifier drawers

All,

Have a friend with a project. He has some dead modules for a Harris Z series.

Does anyone out here have any spares for sale or ideas how to get these rebuilt???

Thanks.

1. have prayer
2. send to Harris for repair (or swap)
3.write BIG check.
I would not attempt personal repair JBI

Two different Harris field techs and the instructors when I went to "Z" school all recomend letting Harris rebuild them There are freq/phase critical adjustments that need to be made that can be upset by a fet change.

Z analog, or Z hd, or Z HD+? There's a difference. I used to just send them the pallets for repair. Then I figured out wha was killing them was they were getting loose on the heat sinks. Tighten the mounting screws regularly, no further troubles with them in several years.

Unless a guy is set up with the proper jig and test equipment and is VERY careful with parts selection, etc. there's a possiblity of creating problems and even spurious emmissions by repairing them in the field. It's not impossible to do, just dangerous RF-wise if a guy just thinks replacing parts like an audio amplifer is all that's involved.
