Harry Shearer to Return After Reaching New Deal

The Simpsons appears to be moving on without a key member of its voice cast.

Harry Shearer, who brings to life such characters as Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Waylon Smithers and Principal Skinner, tweeted Wednesday (5/13) that the venerable Fox animated series has informed him that his contract will not be renewed.

The actor and comedian — who has been with The Simpsons since its origins on The Tracey Ullman Show — was the lone cast holdout in the latest round of negotiations, with the rest of the talent having signed on for seasons 27 and 28.

The biggest difference is they only need voice talent, it not like replacing a actor.

There are many V/Ts who will be able to sound like Mr.Burns, Ned, Moe etc.

They have extended for 2 more years, the biggest credit it the stories, situations they come up with.

Heck, they even had the 1st season haunt the current season in the last Halloween Show.

There are many V/Ts who will be able to sound like Mr.Burns, Ned, Moe etc.

It all depends on how willing we are to accept them, but yeah, they might find good substitutes.

Moe is Hank Azaria. So he won't be one of the ones affected.

While Harry Shearer will be missed, he won't be missed. If they get a person who sounds reasonably like the characters, then it won't matter. For the actors, it's like Zayn Malik leaving One Direction (I have no idea who they are): sure the majority is together but are missing a big piece.

The big question is does this signal the end of The Simpsons in 2017?
