With the Academy Awards coming up next week, maybe we should think about giving out our own awards for local radio. There could be numerous categories, but here are a few to begin:

Local Hartford Talk Show Programs:

Dumbest: Brad Davis
Most Egocentric: Sebastian
Blandest: Dan Lovallo
Rush Limbaugh Wannabe: Jim Vicevich
Most Arcane & Esoteric: Colin McEnroe

What time is your talk show on...OH wait you DON'T have a talk show.

It's stupid comments like that that would certainly qualify you to replace Brad Davis. Let's see....according to the inference and logic of your post, I can't have an opinion about George Bush because I'm not (and never have been) President of the United States.

I can't have an opinion about the New England Patriots because I've never played pro football and I don't own a football team.

Now...lastly....are you currently or have you ever been employed in the radio business? If not, please stop posting your comments. According to your logic you shouldn't be doing that.

"GreatCalloftheNE"... I would like to hear your reasons for naming Brad Davis the winner of your award for Hartford's dumbest. He is, in my opinion, a very articulate, intelligent, thoughtful person both on the air and off...a bit conservative for my taste, but I can't imagine anyone ever believing he is "dumb." I have had the pleasure of knowing him for nearly three decades, so I would say I am qualified to have that opinion....

This has nothing to do with his politics. I'm a conservative in the Barry Goldwater tradition and Brad is a Neo-con. So there is a basic political difference. But I think Brad wears "blinders" when it comes to issues. On Saturday I was listening to him discuss an issue with a caller and the caller made an analogy that was totally illogical. It made absolutely no sense but it was meant to make a point concerning an issue about which Brad and caller were in agreement. Brad said, "Exactly!!! Right on!" Or words to that effect.

If Brad truly understood the issue he would have pointed out the error in the user's analogy. But it suited his purpose so he agreed. I've heard him do things like this before. He blocks out anything that might impede his personal agenda.

I think if you had worded your post differently your argument would have been met with a bit more acceptance. Using the word "Dumbest" basically negated anything after that.
