Christmas mainstay WRCH siphoned off listeners from every station but the two right-wing talkers and the '60s-'80s classic hits station, it seems. Further proving that, when it comes to the appeal of hearing the same 250 holiday songs every time you turn on the radio for a month, 25-54 women are from Venus, typical radio message board posters are from another galaxy.

It's a good thing I don't listen to the (W)hite (R)ich (C)onnecticut (H)ousewife station at all. I can't stand Christmas music at all...but to hear it for 5 straight weeks? Oh hell no! I'll pass! The real test for their ratings will be with the next book.

What test? They'll still be at or near the top with the same healthy rating they always get. Most of their core audience is in the prime demo for Christmas music anyway, so they're not going to be switching stations once the secular hits return. The WKSS, WTIC-FM, WHCN, etc. listeners who enjoyed their five-week Christmas fix will just return to those stations, causing no consternation at WRCH, which never expected them to stay after the holidays in the first place.

By the way, your contempt for WRCH and its listeners is understandable but futile. Vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor for a reason. No matter how much you rant on about how mocha-pistachio-raspberry-mint is a far superior flavor, you're not going to put a dent in sales of vanilla.

HA! Love the second paragraph and so true!

Entercom (WRCH, WTIC, TIC-FM, and company) will be humming "jingle bells", non-stop for a while, with these numbers. All-in-all, they own it!
