Hartford Winter Numbers

There must have been a heavy concentration of diaries in urban areas for part 3 of the Hartford winter book. For Part 1 & 2 WRCH was a full point above their Fall rating. Now the full winter book is out and WRCH has fallen 2.2 points below part 1 & 2 and 1.2 below their Fall numbers.

While WZMX shows a drop from the Fall, they must have done well in Part 3 of the winter book since they wound up .4 points above where Parts 1 & 2 showed them. And WPHH also made a major gain in Part 3 to leap over WKSS and WCCC.

I'm not a big fan, but you have to give credit to WDRC-FM as they slowly but surely make gains. They look great now compared to a year and a half ago when they were going through their "format of the month" phase. They're a full 1.3 points over where they were back in the Fall of '05.

WCCC continues its post-Stern decline. Back in the Fall of '04 through the Summer of '05 they were consistently pulling numbers in the high fives and sixes. Now they're the dead-last Hartford FM just a shade above the WDRC-AM/WMMW-AM simulcast.

I think props should also be given to WHCN. Sure, they've slipped a bit, but still pretty solid at The River.

There is really very little to be learned from 12-plus numbers. That's one reason they're released to everyone. It's very possible for a lower rated 12-plus station such as WPOP to be healthy because it reaches more desirable demos... perhaps men 25-54.
